Legal advice on "fix-it tickets"
I hope Ive put this in the right forum, but I couldnt decide if this went in the appearance forum or not so here it goes...
Last friday I was pulled over by the highway patrol for having blue corner and headlights, and then the state trooper decided that my tint looked a little dark(even though it was at night
)and insisted on checking it or taking me to jail. He managed to get a reading of 3%,(even though its five, but I wasnt stupid enough to tell him that) and I ended up getting a ticket of 89 dollars and a freekin court date. Funny thing is, on the ticket the cop put the year of my rex as a 93, even though it clearly states on my insurance that its an 89. I know that in Ks most speeding tickets are automatically dismissed if there are errors on the ticket, but Im not sure on the fix-it tickets, any other Ks people here know what to expect from experience?

I don't think they will care to much about the year or the mistake on the ticket, I also got a ticket for tints. I was thinking of getting a receipt saying I had them removed, I wounder if that would work.
Ive heard from a few friends and coworkers that with fix it tickets they dont care about this as well, but Im hoping it isnt true. Also, I got my rex from texas this summer, and all out of state vehicles have to be inspected by the KHP at a local inspection station or by a KHP inspector before theyre tagged. And I think that if it comes down to the wire Ill just pull the inspection certificate and say that there was nothing mentioned about the tint then, (or anywhere on the certificate for that matter) and just swap to some amber bulbs when I decide to go to court for it,( I might just have to call in on the day of my court date and postpone due to "an emergency dental situation" or the like). If need be Ill get a lawyer, Id rather pay a lawyer a few more legal fees to get the ticket dismissed, than let that cop get away this kind of harassment
. If you can find a tint shop thatll give you a fraudulent reciept, go for it, but I kind of doubt that youll be able to

from my experiance of being pulled over for tinted windows is that they want to visually see and recheck the windows before they sign off on the ticket. the 3 times i have gotten tickets for tint all i have done was swap the windows for clear ones get it inspected and then slide the tinted ones back in. it only takes about a half hour each way, much easier and cost effective than getting them stripped and retinted to a legal %.
