Default Blown Engine?

Hey, I have an 89 CRX si, and had been hearing a ticking in the engine, cant tell if its from the valves or crankshaft. 2 nights ago, it started sputtering, and stalled out, fired it up, ran ok again for a few miles, then it started sputtering again, the motor made a low pitched thump, the car jerked like I slammed the brakes, and it sputtered to a stop, and wouldn't start again. any ideas?

the car is a stock D16A6, with the front pipe to the airbox removed, and a 2.25" inch exhaust, with a Magnaflow muffler.

ticking or a knocking? How many miles. It it was a ticking (which is common on hondas over 100,000 you could just adjust the valves but that wouldn't stop the car from running). Does the motor still turn over? If you threw a rod from shitty mains, usually the motor will not crank and most of the time you get a big hole in the block. It could be many things. Do a compression check. This will get you some Idea of the shape of the motor. It could be that the valves need adjustment and the fuel filter was getting clogged up and it ran poorly till the filter was totally blocked (it's never that easy). Are there metal shavings in your oil, what does the coolent look like? What is the temp outside(a low gas tank along with really cold weather could cause the fuel to gell) need more input to help you out

thanks for trying, tried to get it to a shop today, and the bottom end gave out, split the connecting rods.

LOW OIL it makes that thump sound with a sputter feeling.... also your bottom end is gone once it does that, it just gets worse from there on.. as you know now since your motor is dead.

the wierdest thing was the car was't low, the idiot light kept flickering on and off, so I added more oil to it, it actually ended up being a little over. I think a rod bearing went, and caused the rod to slide around, crashing into the block and mainstay. So, it scored up the block pretty bad, and took a few of the baffles off the mainstay. any ways, yea, its bye bye engine for me. Time for a ZC swap...
