Each year (97,98,00,01) there was a certain amount of Type R's sold here in the states from what I understand..

Does anyone have the numbers of Type R's for each year in the US?

What I'm basically wondering, is how many (including wrecked ones) are here in the US since 1997?

 

whatever the answer is....my answer would be "not enough of them"

 

I'd say about 4,500 came here total. I believe the numbers are something like 500 in 97, 1000 in 98, 1500 in 00, and another 1500 in 01. However, some people have higher numbers, i.e. 1800+, so no one knows for sure.

There was a thread on h-t a while back with exact numbers that came over here. I'll try to dig it up.

I wouldn't want any more. Any more and it isn't very exclusive.

First link says "480 in NORTH AMERICA". So that means there are only 162 canadian R's from 1997. VERY exclusive indeed!

 

j00 sure about that? THis is the first time I've heard that.

 

Unless the colors share numbers thats not right. I was on a special list in 00 to get mine. The guy showed me the list, and there were only 5 guys after me. I'm 1492.

I would guess including wrecks and thefts, theres less than 3,000 left.

This information is not correct at all.

There were approximately 1500 TOTAL brought over to the US in 2000, and then again in 2001. There were more PY's made than black. The number is higher than 1500, but no one has been able to get an exact amount from honda.

Also, the US and Canadian numbering schemes MAY be from the same block of numbers, so it is possible that there are US DC2-R's out there that have a higher badge number than the total number of R's brought over in either 2000 or 2001.

No one has been able to determine how the badge number scheme works, so it shouldn't be used to figure out how many were brought over.

318 + 1023 (confirmed numbers from Honda) + approximately 3000-3500 for '00-'01 in the US = somewhere between 4341 and 4841 ITRs brought to the US.

Like I said, no one has a firm number for 2000 and 2001. Best guesses from some Honda folk has been in the neighborhood of 1500-1750 each year for the US. Every attempt at figuring out the R badge number system has ended with little or nothing concluded!

I really wish Honda had some concrete info for us. Why don't they? It seems to be a large company like Honda would know this kind of info in wonderous detail!!

Did you read above? Obviously not. 1023 came to the US in '98. Number scheme is useless.

With everything we know about our cars, we have no clue about the number system or number produced!!!

 

No exact # for NA 1997s either. A recent post revealed #509 and #510 that were sent to the US. We thought it ended at 500 exactly for North America. -shrugs- Just drive the damn thing.... or wait until spring like me.

I think it is rediculous... a company like Honda doesn't just randomly make products and not keep track of how many were sold let alone produced. That is absolutely retarded. SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, at Honda, has an EXACT answer to this. Bottom Line. You don't get to be an international, billion-dollar company, by not keeping records of inventory sold. Like I said, SOMEONE has the answers. I think we should start like a petition of sorts, to send to Honda, showing how many enthusiasts are interested in the numbers, at least some concrete info on how many went to each country. And before someone says "oh so-and-so wrote Honda, or asked joe-blow Honda dealer about it, and they said no one knew," well you got the run-around. SOMEONE knows.
