ls/vtec smog issues
wuttup, anyone with ls/vtec smog problems. i have to get my car smogged in a coupleof months and nt sure ifi'll pass. anyone have any info on smog for me thanks
First off, to be technical, swapping an Vtec head on an LS block isn't legal. A Referee station would notice it in a second. But think about this;
If you installed the stock LS engine in your car you could get it "certified" at a referee station. They will give you a tag to be mounted on the car giving the engine type and serial number.
At that point, you would just go to a smog station and they would check it with the LS smog requirements.
If you then installed the Vtec head and kept the LS valve cover (that does NOT have "Vtec" all over it), I'd bet that most smog stations wouldn't even know it's been changed!!!!!!! Just don't tell them. You are not lieing, you are just keeping your mouth closed.
I'm rather "old world" and would rather have a valve cover that doesn't say Vtec on it. It's part of wanting to build a sleeper.
Wes.

yeah that would be cool if a LS valve cover even fit on a vtec head. and besides that the refree is not a moron .. he knows what he is doing.thats why he's the refree.
