ITR or S2K
I have an 00 SI and am looking to upgrade to a nicer/faster car. Here are the choices: ITR or S2k? I'm leaning towards the ITR b/c it has so much available in the aftermarket and since i live in Chicago i could still drive it year round if i have to. I would appreciate any opions you guys have on this decision b/c i go back and forth daily. Oh and if anyone has any ITR'S that are all motor i would be really interested to see the HP/torque #'s and 0-60/1320 times. (please no estimates, i want the real deal of people who have run their cars and who have spent time on the dyno). thanks
Stock for stock the s2000 outperforms the ITR, even on road courses (auto x may be equal). Personally id look into the s2k if you have funds for a 30k car, but the theft/worry factor is far less than the ITR. For a daily driver, the s2000 has more creature comforts and is a little easier around town (ive driven both), but the ITR is more fun to drive IMO. As far as winter driving, with winter tires the rwd s2000 wont have a lot of trouble being that the car isnt a torque monster, nor are the wheels out back very wide. A buddy of mine drives his s2k in the winter with no problems, and i drive my R in the winter with blizzacks. Basically take each car out for a spin for some hands on driving, and pick what you like... to each his own.
I'd rather have a Miata than an S2000, but I think these days with all the theft/vandalism I'd never suggest anybody buy any kind of Honda. Especially an ITR.
Drive both - then decide. Internet test drives don't count.
If you get an S2K - get one with the glass rear window and better stereo.
Upgrading the S2K is significantly more expensive btw

ITR all the way, it is much better if you want a car with aftermarket support and you gotta rev an s2000 to like 7000 at least to drag it properly and pull any decent times lol, anyways the whole thing revolves around money, and aftermarket support and looks i guess, you have to decide....
As already posted, if you have a beater than the S2000 is a nice choice especially in the summer and with the top down all the time. For the life of me, I can't understand anyone that drives with a ragtop up.
I've driven the S2000 and was still more than satisfied when I got back into my R. Plus the R has so much more room for me to load with junk for the track IE; tires, jack, tools, tent, chairs, cooler, etc,,, you just can't do that with a S2ook!
Both are good choices but I have to disagree about driving the R in the snow, that is just a bad idea, I sold my snows and got a beater,,, IMHO it was a heck of a better decision.
171.9 WHP and 123 PF/TQ and I don't drag.
Good luck,
A.

Just buy both!
I would pick up an S2k if i lived in US like yourself. Its a better deal for the money. Here in Canada, there is a much bigger price difference between the 2.

They are different cars, and do different things well.
For winter driving, if you HAVE to take one of these cars out (like if it's your only car), the ITR and its FWD will be superior. Get winter tires on whichever car you drive in winter though.
For track driving, there are many groups that don't allow open-top cars to participate, so again, the ITR gets the nod.
If open-air motoring in the summertime is important to you, the S2000 (obviously) can do that and the ITR can't.
For pure performance, stock, the S2000 is generally superior.
If you need to haul a lot of stuff, or occasionally a third person (or good-sized man's best friend), the ITR can do that much better than the S2000.
So, decide what's most important to you, and then get what fits your needs best. They're both nice cars, to be sure.
