Pepboys blew up my friend's motor! (Pt.2) Result
I went over there with my "tech" friend and we opened up the valve cover once again. Everything looked A-OK. Just before we were going to adjust the valves again, my friend found the answer.......
The ratchet with the socket was still attached to the crank pulley
In conclusion, the motor is fine. The socket lost. Car is running fine. Boy, what a scare!
Here's a pic of the 0wned socket:

Wow, that sound came from a socket wrench??? Well at least the motor is ok. Tell your friend that he is lucky.

hahahah i actually did the same thing.
socket with an extension on it was left on the pulley, luckily i didnt drive it. the wheel was turned left so it hit nothing. after the 20 minute idle warm up, i realized it was still there, felt it spinning and turned off the car and removed it. silent too

I would never take my car back if the tech can't tell the difference in sound between a socket left on the crank pulley, and a blown motor. I still say a bunch of retards work at places like that. Always exceptions to the rule, but not many.
Didnt anyone ever teach him at crapboys to leave a red rag..or any rag tied to the steerin wheel to remind him... Outa site outs mind as the old sayin goes.
But ya..Did he do a valve adjustment?
