How can I tell if it's a real Type R?

VIN and firewall VIN make this car a Type R according to Carfax. My question is, what are the other places on an Integra where the VIN can be found? The glass doesn't seem to be original, so what other places?
Also, by looking on the bottom (ie rear suspension), are there braces that regular Integras do not have? The ITR I'm looking at is a salvage, and the interior is from a 2000 GSR as the ITR was supposedly stripped of its engine (it now has a 2000 ITR drivetrain) and interior. Pics will be up tomorrow...

The VIN can be found in several places on the car. Front bumber cover, engine, other random places. The rear LCA's are different than other integras, yes.
A few things that you should look for, yes they can all be changed to "type-R" but its highly unlikely. First, and foremost, look at the engine
Next, see if its a 5 lug. Look at the doors and rear quarter panel. There should be none of that plastic stuff thats in the middle which is found on lower model integras. The rear subframe? is also completely different. Check for the trunk brace as well.

No sound deadning
Rear under tie that only the R frame can accomidate
All factory panels will have a vin sticker put on when built ( unless panel was replaced ) all cars have them but match them with the firewall and the other places and then do your carfax
No sunroof of course
5 lug
no cruise control
and the rest of the obvious wich I wont list. Hope this helps.

dead giveaway is the rear lower tie bar, because it's attatched to a frame ONLY found on a type-R chassis.
Easy...look for the three big bright red "R" stickers
j/k
What is it that you are specifically concerned about, the vin # locations?

The ITR I'm looking at is a 97. According to the used car dealer, it was a stolen recovery. The engine, rims, and interior were stripped. This 97 ITR has a 2000 ITR drivetrain from a rear-ended 2000 ITR. The interior is from a 2000 GSR and is black leather. The rims are from a 2000 ITR (gunmetal). The rear taillights are all red, so I'm assuming it's from a 98+ Integra.
I took some pics yesterday and I will post them up after I come home from my relatives' house.

Notice how the paint doesn't really match with the tailgate. Does anyone have a pic of an ITR next to a Frost White Integra? It's hard to tell by the pic, but I would like to see Championship White compared to Frost White.

Notice how the door under the mirror doesn't meet the body panel real well...that's why I don't really believe the dealer's story that the car was stolen and "simply stripped" of engine and interior. I was doing research on salvage cars (yes, I know about the search function...I wouldn't post if I found the answers I'm looking for) and found a few cases of front clips being rewelded to a different car, and the "reconstructed" car's VIN is considered to be the VIN on the firewall and dash. I wasn't able to do a complete inspection of this ITR.
As for ABS, I don't recall seeing an ABS fuse box by the passenger-side damper tower, and according to itrsport.com, ITRs do have ABS. Of course, I could've overlooked the fuse box.
The red A emblem on the front doesn't fit flush (could be one of those generic A emblems from Autozone, APC, etc) and the rear emblem is painted red. The strut bar mounts are painted red, and there are a few points on the car where the paint doesn't match...I suspect some body work has been done on this car. The engine bay was very clean...so I don't know if it's been repainted, or the car was well taken care of before being stolen.
Hopefully, I'll be able to scrutinize it more tomorrow...
