4bidden Motorsports short shifter Review
Installed two of 4bidden's short shifters today on two 4th gen VTEC's. Pics are from my car. First impressions: The shifter looks very well made and solid
The OEM shifter is UGLY in comparison.
Here's a picture of the shifter installed, without the shiftboot. I used the middle mounting hole of the 3 available.
The finished product.
Another pic.
And another.
I have only driven with the shifter for about 10 minutes so far but it feels pretty damn nice. The throws are definately shortened, but I wouldn't say it feels like a hardcore race throw by any means. Shifts feel solid, controlled, and smooth. I haven't had a chance to drive hard with it really yet, just one downshift and it seemed very nice having a shorter/solid throw. The only thing that kinda bothers me is how it appears to sit very far to the right side, as you can see in the later pics. I'll have to look at the other car and see if his sits to the right like mine.
Overall I'd say that it is a quality piece and works well. I think it adds some enjoyment to driving. I bet I'll really like it when driving more spiritedly. We'll see when that comes.

the top linkage...can't you adjust it just by screwing it to make it sit more centered...that's what he said in one post, haven't installed mine yet, but i'm pretty sure you can...cause yours looks way more to the right then his does on his install pics!

AIR SPENCER PRIDE IN THE HIZZIE!!!!! it looks tite. has he realeased the ones for the 5g yet????? how much are they and to 4bidden, do you guys still meet up??? the guys from hondaprelude.com arizona forums.
Don't have much time but .....
All 93+ Preludes that I have seen (althought I just noticed that Mike's doesnt have it??) have an adjustable linkage and only require the twist of a hexnut that is built into the select linkage (smaller one/drivers side) to move the shifter back over to the middle. Personally I don't even notice the small amount that it sits over more and neither do most of the people who have installed the shifter. I will try and post pics later of the adjustment that I'm talking about.
The 5gen shifter should have a prototype done shortly after the first week of the new year.
I am sold out of 4gen shifters and should have more at the same time the 5gens make their debut.
If you would like on a waiting list for the shifter please email me at 4bidden@***.net and give me your name, email, and user id from the message board. I will email you when they become available.
Have to hurry, I'll try and make it back later to answer some more questions! Have a good Christmas everyone!
