My si tranny just went out so i went and got it replaced. They put in a tranny that was supposed to be an si tranny but it wasn't because my si tranny only went up to 55 mph in second gear but this tranny went up to about 85 in second gear. But this tranny did have 5 gears but third gear felt like fifth gear on my old tranny. Weird.
It's hard to tell what car the tranny came from by looking at it. Strange thing about 88-91 D-series trannies is that they're all labled L3. If you've got hellishly long gears, you've prolly got an HF tranny.
Check out this page -- http://crx.honda-perf.org/math/index.html -- Swich the transmission and Final drive to "HF", then goto the RPM --> Speed calculator and plug in 6500 PRM. You'll get 90 MPH as an answer.
