OK, this had been doing this for around 1 week now, it does it especially at stops, it starts to make a real sour smell. You can smell it good outside more than in. Kinda smells like burnt coolant or something similar. Can't exactly pinpoint where it's coming from...Any ideas??? Thanks, it's a 85 1.5 CRX

Is your coolant or any other levels going down?

 

Well i did notice that for some reason my coolant was going into the overflow bottle causing it to leak out sometimes...

 

What if possibly it's my carb runnning rich, how would i adjust or make it not run rich?

 

You could be just smelling your upper lip j/p
Maybe put in alot of air freshners?

 

if it was your carb running rich, you would have smoke comming out of the exhaust and it would smell like gas.

that sounds strange that your coolant is overflowing out of your resivoir... the engine's not running hot? are all of your other levels ok? (ie. oil)

 

Yeah the oil is fine, i just did an oil change about 2 weeks back. I am thinking too much coolant? I also noticed a small coolant leak comin from the thermostat housing (bad gasket) prolly causing the smell.

 

are you sure you not smelling the rotten egg like smell that comes from a cloged cat? ive seen this happen before. when your at a stop it comes up through the car that is why you would smell it. i am not sure of this just thought id throw in my 2 cents
