questions about prepping your car ?????
my car has a lot of rust to be taken care off so my plan is to have a body shop do the body work first then i'll take it home and prep it and primer it then take it back to be painted.
i wanna prep/primer the car the PROPER WAY.
i know the bumpers, handles, moldings needs to be sprayed with a flex agent.
what about primering the car?? i read somewhere that its ideal to spray EPOXY PRIMER (not sure if thats the right term) first to keep moisture from being absorbed.........
is this right.....i need a professional......anyone that can help me........

Epoxy primers are a PLUS
Never Ever use those spray cans.
I suggest that if you're gonna have the body work done by the shop you should also let them primer it for you. You're only asking for trouble if you're gonna drive out the shop with exposed Body Filler. Leaving it expose can draw in moister and it gets soaked right down to the metal making it rust where you can't see. It needs to be primered right away, or stay indoors at all times until it is primered.
If you don't know what you are doing, then just leave it up to the shop to do it. They know more than you do. If you're concerned about how they do things, take it to a shop where you feel comfortable at and have seen pictures of their past work.
The money you spend will be well worth it. If you were trying to save money by doing things yourself, you'll still lose money because you're gonna end up messing something up or the paint won't last because of your own prepwork which you don't know how to do.
Staying with the shop is the PROPER way because they should gaurantee your work and if they screw something up, they should fix it with their own money. They won't gaurantee the paint job if the prep work was done by someone esle, meaning that if they paint your car shitty they can blame it on the prep work and your money goes down the drain just like that.

yeah that makes sense...the bitter truth huh
the lowest right now is a body shop that qouted me AT LEAST $2000 CDN with a lifetime warranty(body work and base/clear paint) so i'm considering that shop so far. thanks!!!!

If you are fixing rust, make sure you friggin get rid of all of it! If there is rust-through, I normally replace the whole peice because I just don't feel very good with chicken wire like stuff and mud as a peice of my car.
