aem all the way. they make good ones. just to let you know, short ram=throttle response/low-end torque and CAI=high-end power/less throttle response. dont get any of the knockoffs, AEM has a special paint the protects it from heat and the filter is good.

I'm not sure AEM would be the best, but it is a good buy. Also the AEM short-ram for the 5th gen isn't even 3'' like the cold-air is. It is 2.75 inch and many other short-rams are 3''. I myself would probably look for a 3'' short ram since I'm "hardcore".

Get the cheapest one you can find, they are all the same, not an ounce of advantage on any one over another. Unless looks of course.

AEM is comming out with their new Cold Air Intake soon. It's called the AEM V2 or something like that. They say it even out performs the current CAI. I would wait for that one, or you can just buy on from me for $220 OBO.

not true. the filters are different and the paint that they puton it. AEM uses the k&n filter and uses a heat resistant paint to make the intake stay cooler.

Whenever I had just an intake (no name with a K&N filter), I beat someone who had AEM CAI with a few other mods...IMO, you're just paying for the name

Make your own intake from mandrel bent exhaust piping from JCWhitney, spray paint it with ceramic heat resistant paint (just like AEM), wrap it in thermal resistant tape and own any cookie cutter off the shelf intake on the dyno

oh

and save yourself $175

That's great. Show me a noticible difference from an AEM short ram intake compared to any other short ram intake and I'll believe it.

I agree completely with you on that I bought a $50 Nakayama Racing cold air intake off of eBay and have had it for over a year--there is no rust or whatnot on it. It's just as durable and equal in performance as an AEM, and mine is actually a 1/4" inch bigger in diameter than the AEM for Preludes.

no jk, but serioulsy i would go with a k&n drop in filter on the stock intake with the resonator removed..... nice and cheap and still functional....

i was pretty happy with my *RS/Akimoto, but in believe the type-s gives the most power (more than aem cai) and you can pick one up for like $150
