Default CV question

ok, on my new manufactured axle there is a little ring on the part that goes into the tranny. Does this stay on or get taken off? Kind a dumb question but I was just wondering. I replaced my driver side cv a while back keeping it on and it went in fine, but I'm having a hard time getting my pass side axle in both the tranny all the way and the hub part. BTW its 26 spline and i'm pretty sure thats right.

thanks
Joe

The ring stays on, it should go in. I know when my friend did his we needed to file the splines down a little because they were a little messed up. Look at the end that won't go in. The splines should be pronounced, not smooth. I'm not sure 'bout the spline count, but I hope I helped a little.

yes, the rings(clips) stay on, they make the click sound when you insert the axle back into the tranny.
