just a quick preview. i'll have to gather up my thoughts and write it down.
car: civic hb, b16b swap, quaife, 4.785 FD
track: willow springs, 9 turns, 2.5 miles.
condition: cold, but dry
summary: didn't push as bad as i would imagine. in fact, handling was not bad at all. but this track is VERY fast...
suspension: Tein RE 14k front 10k rear, 26 mm ITR front bar, 22 (?) mm ITR rear bar 2.5 deg front camber 1.5 deg rear camber
tires: falken azenis 205/50/15 on 15x7 stern s07

I don't know my chassis'/motors/weight distributions for every friggen combination, but as a general rule you expect a more front heavy fwd car to require more front roll stiffness than a less front heavy one. All things being equal which they never are. May cause nausea and vomiting. Void where prohibited. No animals were harmed in reaching this conclusion. If you don't like what you read you shouldn't have read it. Note that in saying that I didn't specifically say anything about front/rear bias - and there's a reason for that.
Scott, who reminds you that the inside rear of any given stupid fwd car has only so much to give...up......

Frank,
You gotta get that car to a track like Mid-Ohio. Slower techincal corners would be a good test. I'm interested to hear more about the JDM setup...
Kyle, who's car no longer "pushes like a pig"

what's wrong with u scott?
i'm only planning to post how a friend's car drove on a little back roads and on a fast road race course.
i should've slap the datalogger on the car to get some semi-hard data.
howdy kyle, i imagine u will attend itr expo 03. maybe i will see u there.
what changes have u made lately?

Don't go gettin "semi-hard" just for me.

...heheheh.....cheer up dude.
I'd like to come down......but can't.
And no, I can't pass at 90db - but I'm working on it for next year. I'm looking at those Pete Weber mufflers, but the biggest problem is: quiet costs you one of two things: power or space. I'm not very willing to give up the first, and don't have alot of the space - though I suppose I could have a Laguna only setup.
Scott, who loves to hate Frank the track *****....

no, but maybe there will be some ghettoAss (tm) GR signatured tower bars in 2003.
we got really lucky at laguna on the weather today. some showers in the morning but dried up by 11 am. i drove couple of rare nifty cars. a super clean 1973 Lancia Beta Scorpian (mid engine, car designed by Pinafarina) with 2.0l EFI conversion. this car is in tip top mechanical shape. no wonder it drove SO good. lots of pix and info here. http://www.trub.com/cars/lancia/ 49/51 weight distribution. 2100 lbs. about 120 hp. very torquey 'cause it's a 2.0. the only weakpart (and kinda crazy if you think about it), is it has tiny 8" front brakes (not vented, just a solid disc). and non assisted brakes. that took quite a while to get used. very high pedal efforts required, even compared to the early 70's 911 which are also non assisted. and we're at LS, which is known to be very hard on the brakes. handling is super clean and crisp, with tires really holding it back (nasty *** michelin xgt v4 as found on some honda's). really excellent balance, with the car rotation on the fast side. i think the spring rates aren't ideal. it is something like 175 front 250 lbs/" rear. put on some azenis and better rates the car will be glued to the road. it is just a beauty though, isn't she?
i finally drove a Lotus Elise, powered by a spoon 220 hp B18C5. fun fun fun.
ps, wow... just browsed on Chris' (Lancia owner) site. he has a dc integra before. and his wife has a delsol. look at this:

has anybody realized that a stock itr front bar only has a wheel rate of about 60lbs/in, maybe a little less? or that the rear itr bar (22mm) has a wheel rate of almost 450lbs/in??
not to hijack, but what are those rates in the english system? something like 785lbs/in fr, right? how do they ride on the street, or is this a track only car?

It's about 750/500 i think. It's pretty bumpy. I have them set pretty low for the street, around 6 clicks front, 4 rear. For the track I put it around 10front/8 rear. It really only gets bad on the freeway, other than that it's pretty bareable.

Is this that infamous EG with the b16b 5 lug conversion, Tein Susp., JDM teeth and the works? not to mention the non fading/cracking windowsil that is prone to EGs?
track times would be nice(willow springs)

Infamous? I dont think its the same one. Looks stock with some rims and lowered. Makes an *** load of noise too.
Got a link to the pics frank?
Oh, here's some I took the other day.

I would like to point out that, another member here on H-T "jg", also uses the "jdm" suspension setup on his EG hatch with an ITR motor. His car is stripped but is still street legal. No cage and the motor (98spec) & tranny are completely stock. Wilwood brakes, 225 tires ALL AROUND with alignment specs that I don't really remember. IIRC he has both front and rear sway bars too.
Reason why I brought up jg is that from what I talked to him during the last Speedtrial event at Gingerman, he told me that he first used the rear stiff setup, and now changed it to front stiff based on JIC's recommendation. The time he pulled with BOTH setup was best at ~1'35"XX ----- this is the territory that belongs the King's ITR piloted by Bob E.
His comment on the front stiff setup was that he could pull the 1'35" time more consistently. Oversteer can be induced as he wants and the car does not suffer any ill effect from the stiffer spring up front.
I honestly doubt that he could give out a series of chassis dynamic analysis that we've been thru.
But based on his outstanding laptimes, I would take his words as a credible source.

The car still has the same suspension package as before, but I played with ride-height, and damping a bit in the rear. T/P's are now more of an exact science. It felt very nice at Putnam Park (then again the turns are faster there than at Mid-Ohio). By the time April rolls around I should have a new Saner rear bar in place. It's probably still too neutral for you though
BTW... I love that pic!
