Im caught in a dilemna, my car needs brakes and tires. Also, my car burns alot of oil and that might be the piston rings, which is very expensive, I dont have the money to fix any of it right now, the engine is fine as long as I keep putting oil in it.
I dont really want to sell it, but it might not be worth fixing.

And then also, I have 3 years left on the loan and I didnt want to start a new one.

What do you guys think?

NO!!!! I just paid my years insurance in full to keep my car ........ I got raped, my insurance was crazy expensice. But when it really came down to it I decided the type R is a badass car. I love imports and it would be very hard to champ a type R so I paid out the slowass and kept the car. Slowass is a brokeass but you can live once with a type R or with out a Type R. If you broke, when you sell the type R your still going to be broke. Keep the car. Work a little extra here and there and fix the car. Get her back in action and bring your baby to expo and rember why you bought the R in the frist place

I have a GSR, not an ITR!

I was thinking of it, but I dont think I will be able to afford it.

 

What about a used '02 WRX? I'm willing to bet you can find one for a decent price. You won't be dissapointed. I would suggest an ITR, but well...I won't get into it. I'm sure you've read all the damn posts recently of stolen ITRs.

an 02 WRX would be a bad choice. Those have the tranny problem. They fixed that MAJOR problem in 03' models correct?

 

just keep the car. tires are'nt taht bad if you geta good set taht is cheap. i am sure you acn get new brakes form somebody on this board for a good price.

I looked at the WRX's tonight, but I think they are out of the question.

I think I am just going to get new tires and brakes, and keep putting in oil til I can it fixed, then hopefully a B18C5 swap or B18C1 w/ supercharger or rebuild.

 

Also, I have humming coming from the rear tires, it is because the are losing tread or do I need strut mounts?

 

Sorry buddy, Gsr puts a new spin on things. New recomendation: Sell your car. Take a loan for 8k buy a hatchback and hook it up like a champ !!!!!!!

 

take the motor out , burn the car,
say it was stolen and put the motor in a hatch when rebuilt, just lost your car payment , so plenty of money to play with

Dude piston rings is no big deal. I have a mechanic here in NYC that will re-ring your motor and button it back up for $500 including parts & labor. And once you change the rings stay away from GAY SYNTHETIC OIL!!!

 

anyway how could your rings be soo bad already , your car aint that old. i dont think you beat it , but i could be wrong .

are you sure its burning it and not leaking through the main seal. I switched to reg oil also because it doesnt ****** burn like $4 a quart synthetic. Bring the car to me and I'll do your 4 wheel brake service for free. Just get the pads and rotors and I'll put them on for you. You can get cheap *** rotors and pads for now till your funds get higher. Let me know.

Ps it could be your tires or a wheel bearing but most likely you tire if they're that fucked up.

I have been putting 10w30 Mobil SuperSynthetic, I guess I should switch to regular and see what happens then.

My rear tires are bad, but if the pass inspection Im not going to worry about it, I will have some extra funds in January so I can get brakes, what do you recommend, cheap ones or good ones?

 

switch to regular oil, - see what happens. tires/brakes are wear items on any car, its not worth selling the car based on that.
