Why can't you put the upper arm back on? Ellaborate on what is keeping it from going on.

If it is because the shocks are extended, just compress it with your hand or with a jack to help.... (if that is the case thought)

The correct way isn't to take the upper arm off. I didn't have to remove anything except the bottom of the shock mount and the top perch.

I don't know if you've done this already but it's best if you jack up the car from the center (rear or front). If you just jack up the car on one side... the travel of the entire suspension wont hang low as you need it to be and will create a much harder time working.
Jack up the car from the center (in this case your rear), and both the wheel/entire suspension will hang extra low.
just a tip.

You can compress the spring on the car. Just make sure everything is together as far as the shock/spring assembly goes, then put a jack under the hub and raise carfully. Make sure your jack plate isn't touching the rotor face.

Dude, their trippin. Just thread the a arm bolts on a turn so that the a arm dangles a bit. That ought to give you enough clearance to get in the spings and shox.
