what are u guys going to do when a cop makes u go see the smog ref. because
they a have new law that if any thing with the car is questionable they can automatically send u to the smog ref. so what are u guys opinions and what are u going to do if this happens to u. and this law starts on the 1st of jan.

Try getting some hook-ups on a smog test maybe. However I'd suggest to just stop street racing in general.

yes but unfortunaly,i dont think it has to do with juss street racing, i can be drivin on the freeway minding my own biz, and a cop can pull me over and send me to the ref, cause my car fits the profile of a stret racer i guess could say. but good thing my cr is legal, swap is legitimized and everything but still wastes my time

As someone just pointed out, you don't have to be street racing in order to get these types of situations, right?

I mean let's stop assuming that if you have a swap you're some ghetto thug street racer. I know of many SoCal and NorCal members here that have swaps and have nothing to do with the street racing crap.

 

yeah i know how you feel about the freeway thing. Damn cops pulled me over too. He said he pulled me over for speeding, but i know thats bullshit, i was only going 70, and we all know people go 80 with no problem. I say its because my car looks like a street racer too. Well here is my plan. I'm goin to install an oven where my glove compartment is. When cops ask me for licsence and registration, i'm goin to open the oven and pull out a warm cup of coffee and some freesh crispy creme donuts! Score! that has got to work.

i didn't mean to call anybody a street racer but thats what a cop thinks when he see's a lowered honda. and it dosent matter if your swap is legal, what matters is your swap stamped by a smog ref. because just having a modified exhaust can get u a trip to the ref. and the reason why i am asking this question is because a friend of mine got stopped for his exhaust and the cop made him pop his hood and once he looked at his 95 ls in a 93 civic hb it was an automatic ticket to the ref and he could not drive his car until he saw the ref.

 

i would fight it. the most u lose is just fines and having to go to the ref, but if u win, ud gain so much by not having to deal with that bull ****. i mean poping ur hood is basically a type of search. if he asks to search the car, u can say no. unless there is reasonable doubt that u have a bunch of illegal things under the hood. he has to have probable cause to do what he does. everything in his site though is free game. whatever he sees he can ticket u for. having an exhaust is not grounds for tickets. it is modified exhaust, which means u modified ur stock exhaust to make it louder. aftermarket cat back systems are perfectly legal and probably even pass the sniffer test. some cops dont know what the **** they are talking about, so u have to set them straight. thats what i did in court. i had a tanabe racing medalion on my sol, and i got a mod exhaust ticket for that. showed up at court and let the judge see the papers and everything and it was thrown out. unless ur friend was racing or something he really has no reason to pop his hood. an aftermarket exhaust does not constitute as probable cause. heck even the new lexus and such come with an aftermarket exhaust. and what about the mercedes brabus and amg editions? henessy venom? all these vehicles are equipped with a high flow exhaust, would they get pulled over? ur friend and all of us are just victims of stereotypes. unless u are at a street race, racing or just being stupid and doing donuts, cops should not have a reason to pop ur hood.

i got caught street racing and no cat and they took pics of my swap and my straight pipe and other various things i got a t page ticket and 1 was a ref ticket so i went to the ref took me 4 months to pass my jdm b16 but finnally passed went to court and plead guilty with correction paid 15 buks
u just have to learn how to wrk the system itwas suppossed to be a 1500 dollar ticket
but it was all for the good now i have a fully legit state approved dual cam swap in my car

 

i am glad i live tn were they just don't give a ****. my dads a cop and he does not care how low high a car sits and does care how loud it is. most cops around here don't

that's how it has always been in california... if anything isn't carb legal or if you don't have a stamp for the swap they'll send you to the state ref and on the ticket it will state that you cannot drive the vehicle until you see the ref...

california is bizare... especially la... in my city, the cops all know me allready.. they know im not uptonogood.... (is that one word..?) they've never found anything on me that is bigger than a fix it ticket.... so they dont even bother... they just look the other way.... but they are some cops that just dont giva... just be carefull with your cat-less fart pipe... some times its not even the cops that try to stop the fun... my friend used to pass up his street screaming high RPMs.... his neighbors called the city on him and they put speed bumps and tried to make a stop to car clubs and import modifiers.... yeah, whatever, guy........

Stupid pigs pulled me over when me and lazypt went for late night jack in the box. The pig pulled me over cause there happened to be a old school nova right next to me and thought we were racing even though we were only goin 40mph!
