why do they call it EP???

i was reading i figured out tha tyou guys call the 2002 civic EP3. why do call it that?

That's just Honda's chassis code.

EP3 = 02+ Civic Si
94-01 Integra = DC2
92-95 USDM hatch = EH2
92-95 JDM Hatch = EG

etc...
