V6.

No, get a B16. Turbo A6 would not be as reliable and may not be as fast.

Or you could get a 1991 ford escort with the beautiful 1.9

It depends on what you want out of the car.

Need more bottom end? b16. Still pulls hard up top... well, pulls harder all the time.... more reliable, as previously stated...

Want that neat "psssssshhhhow" sound? Go turbo. The A6 is a great motor to turbo, cause it won't cost you 1/5th the price of a b16 if/when you blow it skyhigh.

I'd go turbo, personally. It's more fun to tune a turbo than sit there and look at the plug and play b16 Just my opinion.

Nothing like the "psssssh". I have a B16A but if I could turn back time I think I would choose the FI route. Just make sure u build up ur engine good b4 u put on boost.

IMO b16 is WAY WAY over-rated. i would go with the A6 turbo. i have z6 turbo with stock internals and all... (for now) w/ greddy kit. granted i only drove it 3 days before it totaled (head-on ) . but when it goes in the hatch i will have ditched the POS black box and going with some hondata stuff!!!!!! but definatly no b16..

me personally i am goin A6 turbo, i dont like the b16s just for the fact that you dont get a good powerband till vtec. i just want to roll up to somebody and them want to race and tell me that they have a b16 in their car so i can laugh and drive away, i am gunna build the motor and use a full stand alone engine management system and raise the compression with ALOT of boost. so go A6 turbo

This is a very good friend of mine, making 640hp to the wheels, with.. VTEC! OMG yes its true VTEC & TURBO DO WORK? hmmm

Best run 9.7 @ 142

Its called dialing out overlap with cam gears, its actually pretty simple to do.

"Turbo a nonvtec b16" So simply unplug the vtec solinod and turbo it? ya that will be real fast..

I swear to god...

my a6 turbo project that im doing will cost just under or maybe a bit above what a b16 swap would be, and its gonna hands down whoop the b16. even if the b16 had alot of bolt ons

You would be suprised, they will be pretty close (depending on how much boost you are running ofcourse) but we have done various turbo setups, and lots of swaps. Honestly a Turbo D16a6 running 6-7 psi is pretty comparable to a B16a with barley any mods.

Example, my 89 si d16a6 running a custom T25 setup (6-7)psi ran 14.1 @ 101 mph, My very close friend who has a B16a in a 88 si with Intake and exhaust ran consistant 14.0's. the cars were very close, we use to race all the time. The turbo a6 will have more useable torque on the street though, and may seem faster.

i will be pushing 15-17 psi(on race fuel) and about 10-12 on street. b16a civic/crx's barley make it into the 14's around here(high elevation) but turbo a6's under 10 psi do( depending on driver and conditions of course)

even with stock internals at 10 psi would beat a b16 swap

your kidding right? the fastest hondas NA and Fi are non vtec for one simple reason. less rotational mass on the camshafts. im not going to explain what this is b/c im not about to give a physics lesson to someone who thinks convertnig a vtec motor to non vtec is done by unpluging the solinoid.

and like you said
I swear to god...

on the other hand. tell your buddy im sorry that he spent thousands on his turbo setup when it only gave him a .54 advantage over the fastest NA B16 (and yes its non vtec http://www.ericksracing.com).

I'd go the turbo route. You can always turn up the boost, right?

Turning a B16 into non-VTEC is a set of cams away. I bought the roller rockers from Crane though. Very nice less noise from valvetrain and it revs considerably faster. Expensive though. Now I'm broke.

I believe Jeff from importbuilders has stated on this board that he has seen over 100 hp loss from disconnecting the vtec solenoid on a built boosted motor.
