Different manufacturers say different things.. but it SHOULD be:
4300-4500 = White
5500K = Blue
6000K = Purple
anything higher than 6000K is pretty much useless. There is a pic comparison in the FAQ page at http://www.liteswap.com

It really shouldn't matter what brand kit you are using. A temperature rating is standard. A lot of Ebay kits and cheaper kits do not accurately represent this rating.

"Please note that as the k rating increases beyond ~5000k the lumens will begin to drop. Although some manufactures have been able to increase the lumens of their bulbs at higher k ratings, the general rule applies. As the k rating keeps increasing eventually the lumens will begin to drop off."

just go buy those ricey PIAA plasma bulbs if you want purple headlights.. dont waste $500 on some 8000K bulbs that will just get you pulled over.. but to answer your question, 6000K will be purple.. 7000, 8000, and 9000, are very very blue..and no, neither of these kits look anything like the audi's or BMW's.. thats a scam.. ive seen plenty of 6000K cars driving next to BMW's at night, and the 6000K loses so many lumens that its not intense anymore, you cant even tell its HID.. but take a 4300K philips kitted integra, have him drive next to a bmw.. they will both look the same.. appearance wise, but not on the ground of course..
but yeah, like i said..if you're buying lights for the look, dont waste your money buying a gay looking HID kit.. just go buy PIAA bulbs and save yourself $400

Stop wasting your time, bro... if he wants the purple junk let him figure that out for himself after he throws away +$400.
especially when i see the adds saying "get that BMW look" but every projector car ive seen with a 6000K kit, just looks like PIAA bulbs from the frontal appearance.. light on the ground is a tiny bit better of course, but it has no intensity at all.. and reflector housing cars with 6000K just look like those Nokya Super Whites on sterroids.. nothing like a factory HID car at all.. but these companies continue to make money off people.
Im with the Kommander on this one... I hate those 6000K, 8000K and up... they mislead people. Not only that, the kit quality is lacking.
