H&R Race springs on a 91 crx si... Will i have a gap?
The springs lower the car Lowers: Avg Low 2.25"F 2.0"R
i was wonder if i will have wheel gap with 15 inch wheels on like 40 series tires or something

I had the same springs on my 90 civic si hb and had no wheel gap running 00 Si wheels with the stock tires on em....heres a pic of those springs when I had 17s...no gap, but the car was a little lower obviously with the smaller 15s....

You are going to have gaps with any race springs, even coil overs are pretty weak on 4g Civic/CRX's, they just dont dump to the ground like 5g civic/tegs do. I have had a few crx's over the years, and all my race springs H&R race/Neuspeed race I have always had a gap..

Cut 1 coil on the H&R Race's with 205/40/ 16's (still has a gap)

H&R Race (stock) with Stock Wheels

H&R Race (stock) with 215/35 18's (yes they are overkill, and I dont have them anymore.)

For some reason on the front's on a CRX, they never seem to sit down as far as they should, and there's always a little gap. I think maybe H&R designed around the hatch, because they seem to be pretty close to perfect on my hatch with a ZC (+25-30lbs.), and then just said they would fit CRX too, not thinking about how it would look. But they do perform very well on a road course with no camber kit, I was heating the tires very evenly.

damm so even coil overs give gap on these things... i wanted to do some 15 inch wheels on it and like a 3 inch drop but i guess ill still have gap.. oh well its all good. i dont like STUPID slammed either like almost draggin on the floor.
Coil overs do work in away I guess, it does drop it, but you will have a slight gap.. Now the big problem, the strut is practically bottomed out and has **** for travel, it will ride like complete ******* ***.

hrm, i guess ill do H&R Race springs and maybe some KYB AGX's? or what strut would be nice to go along with the race springs.. i guess it will be alright with some 15 inch rims, but i definatly want at least 2inches dropped

how come the car always looks slanted to the front more than the back
they never look even (the crx)

flip the perches, take off the cup of rear struts, screw all the way down, SLAMMED. Commence to ride like *** and jar the **** out of your spine. Looks tight though. I have NO gap, and still have about 3 threads left front and 15 or so rear, I can tuck the rims rear and then some. Ha Ha! Pics soon, getting new digi cam for christmas.
Then again, if you want your car to handle well, don't go much lower that H&R/Neuspeed Race springs. Yes, there is a bit of a gap, but any lower and the car will handle like crap because there is not enough travel on the front (unless you go with a shortened body shock).
Thanks guys, i have an H&R Cup kit on my 2001 VW GTI 1.8T it handles really smooth it was a 2 inch drop, i like it.. ill stick with H&R and get the race springs. now what shocks do i use? KYB AGX? or Koni yellows.. im on a budget here but if koni yellows is whats needed then i guess ill start saving penny's
I run Sprint Extreme springs(3.25f/3.0r) with 14's there is no gap actually sits 1/4 inch over the tires.I run them with illuminas and the ride is tight, handles awesome and looks sick.Contrary to what people say the sprints are great springs if u run a performnce shock, the stocks will not cut it. and DO NOT cut the bumpstop.
Here's my pic of sprint coilovers drop. No gap.
Gotta get the Tokico's it's bouncy as hell after I had them for a month on stock struts.

i have a few comments on this one...

2. you could, but you need to keep the spring heigth above the strut's bottoming point as much as possible. try just tossing the threaded sleeve in the trash and use the coilover springs on the cups themselves (in the rear only of course).
3. no, not even close (with your "methods").
4. right, right...
5. actually, spine jarring is usually a referral to STIFF suspension, as in stiff strut valving. with your struts constantly bottoming, you'll bounce alot. but not because you have stiff strut valving, but because you're constantly hitting and rebounding off the bumpstop. if it's come to this (struts always compressed to the point where the upper strut mounts sit on the bumpstop), the only active suspension would be your tires absorbing the bumps. not good.
6. you're right on that one. they look mighty fine
7. no comment.
8. i'm highly doubting that.
9. unfortunately, we won't see pics. guys like you talk the talk, but never seem to walk the walk (or in this case, show the damn pics).
**this post isn't meant to talk ****. just wanted to add my comments**
