Default Ok I'm pissed. This is a must read!

Ok I just got beat by a ******* saturn, a pos 94 civic with intake and exhaust, and a 2001 v6 accord. Worst part is that they were all my friend's cars. I guess i have a down side.....im automatic and theyre not. But still, dont ya think a 99 prelude could beat a ******* civic? good god. my lude has a aem cai and a greddy full evo exhaust. the civic had a pos cai and a universal full exhaust. and he beat me. wtf??? . so anyways. i got a couple questions for the wise and knowing out there... can someone please explain to me what an AEM fuel pressure regulator, an AEM fuel filter, and a fuel rail does to my car? what do i need to help me increase reaction time in my car. i need a quicker start. it seems as if i fall behind in the beginning...and it seems impossible for me to catch up. but i know that my car is definently faster. got any suggestions??? plsssssssss help for the love of preludes!!!

Theres your problem. You bought an automatic Prelude which is slow off the start. If you would've done it right and bought a 5spd, then you would've won all those races

Okay go back and read his post then make a reply he said the accord is a V6.

You shouldve been able to beat the civic for sure. There must be something seriuosly wrong with your car. I would take it somewhere and get it checked out.

All 5th gen Preludes come with the Sport Shift auto tranny. Try it again in SS mode and redline before each shift. You should also be able to beat the Accord v6. It should also be an automatic.

How about trade it in for a Camaro.

I don't understand why you are slower than those 3 cars. My best advice for you is get your car check by a mechanic.

Pullies, Type S intake, SC, Turbo, those should all help your low end torque.

BTW--What type of gas are you using?

There is only 2 things it could possibly be...you need to learn how to launch off the line, you don't know where to shift inbetween gears or your prelude is a lemon...k, acutally that's three, but that's my conclusion! That's gotta be imbarressing...if i were you, i would have kept it a secret!!

there is nothing wrong here. lemme offer some explanations..

1. you dont know how to drive your own car.
2. you have an automatic and those other cars are stick. of course they will rape you off the line. the accord is auto but he knows what he's doing, and you dont.
3. you ppl are doing your g a y *** street races which last up until 50mph. your idiot friends hit the flashers and its over. but hey, they are smart for pulling it by you, and youre too dumb to understand that your automatic has no chance except top end.

you must beef-up your tranny if you plan on getting better aceleration from your h22.or swap to manual or buy a 5spd...

rev up the car to 3-4k and hold it there then launch, and like the other guy said, shift before redline for each gear. if all that doesnt work, get some pullies and NAWWWWWWWZ that bitch up, you'll smoke rsx-s and all them ricer mobiles, oh yeah you'll also smoke your engine and tranny. hahaha **** it, its an auto, blow that **** up and throw a manual 5 speed in that mother. another advice, try praticing on launching! seems like you can't drive. NAWWWWWZ baby or JRSC that baby.

Yes the tiptronic is pretty slow but it is better for racing, i want you to floor it in regular auto from a stop and see if it will stay in VTEC after it shifts to second. Then I want you to try it again in tiptronic and shift at about 7700RPM and I bet it will stay in VTEC when you shift up to 2nd gear. Also to help your launch, step on the brake and press the gas down. The stall for the torque converter should be about 2000-2200RPM. Then once they say go, just let go of the gas and your off....easy. Tell them to try roll on races(race in tiptronic) you can shift to first while going 30mph but you won't stay in that gear for very long(about 40-45mph till you shift). You can drop it to second gear while goin about 69mph. and in third gear you can drop it while going about 110mph. fourth gear sucks ***...

Okay, here we go.

To get a better launch with an auto you can try power braking it. Basically hold the brake down put it into low gear and hold the accelerator to the floor. The car should not rev past 3-4000 rpm. All you have to do then is let off the brake. Now if the car starts to bog when you initially power brake ease off to 3/4 throttle. You should get a really good launch. I know on our lot if I can get an auto Neon to light up the tires by power braking you should get good benefits. Hell it can't hurt you already lost to a Civic.

Dude, don't power brake your car. You will DESTROY your tranny. Racing with an auto tranny is fine if you hold the brake in and push the gas A LITTLE> Flooring the car with the brake on will KILL your tranny. Ask me how I know. My friend went through a few already.
It is surprising that you lost to a Civic. I didn't think you would beat the Accord by much, if any at all.
Man, I didn't know 5th Gen Lude Autos were that slow. I was kinda scared to race one in my 325ci.

too much and you will probably introduce more problems than its worth. keep the car and get nitrous if you are that concerned about beating civics and saturns. wouldnt matter to me, at the end of the day youre still driving the prelude and theyre still driving garbage.

My friend has a 2001 accord v6 and i was in his car one day and asked him to hit vtec, as i was watching the revs i could barely tell the difference. I do not think the 3.0 liter vtec hits as hard as a prelude vtec. Also the redline on an Accord is lower than a prelude and an accord is more meant for family/luxury. The prelude vetc even on SS preludes hits hard much harder than an accord. Once you get good you should be able to take your friend.
