90 CRX DX - 106k (No mods btw)

Check engine just lit up on the way to work, doing 75mph. Nothing abnormal going on, driving just as I normally do. Any ideas of what to check first? O2 sensor? Car does not get driven hard at all

 

Check the code. Peal back the passenger side carpet, with the key in the ignition and the car on count the number of times the light on top of the ecu blinks.

Long blink = 10
Short blink = 1

Example:
2 long blinks and 1 short blink = 21

Once you find out what the number or numbers are come back and post what it is or take a look for yourself at: Engine Codes

This happen to my brothers 00 si more then once. I told him just to take to un hook the battery for 10 minutes so it resets. It worked, in your case see what code you have. I am guessing the o2 sensor code, this happens every now and then. Anyone care to explain why though ?

 

I think if you had hot gasses and electricity running through you all day you would want to quit as well.

 

Well, when I drove the car home, no more check engine light. Then I drove it again last night .. no light. Intermittent problem, so I can't check the cel! lol - a true beater - ha ha

 

The code will still be there. You should definitely check it.
