Got an interesting e-mail from acura.com
They sent me a cryptic e-mail about exciting news they'll soon release with a link to their site. Nothing hinting at what this exciting news is, but I wonder if it has anything to do with the new NSX or perhaps the release of a USDM DC5R.
I'd post a link to the page, but they've got some flash setup going on, so here is a link to the acura site: http://www.acura.com
Go to the bottom of the page where it says "exciting news" or something like that to register. That is, if you're interested.

Ah, yes!
That would make sense. I've forgotten all about the TSX. I'll have to check one out when they're available.

the new car is smaller and lighter weight
performance (acceleration/handling) should be equal or better than the current USDM cars

so the TSX will be slower than the new V6's?
The TSX will be lighter and available with a 6-speed manual transmission, so it should be a more satisfying car to drive than the new Accord sedan.

I got bored, here's what Honda UK has to say about it.

Looks to be a pretty nice car on paper. TSX would get 2.4 i-VTEC, right?

If its the TSX they are talking about, then the biggest question is whether it will be good enough to sell the R for.

That would suck. I mean they already have 2.4 DOHC iVTEC... why not bring a bigger displacement motor w/ more HP and torque? Afriad that those will get jacked and be put into RSX/Si?

Anything displacing more than 2 litres needs more than four cylinders. Large four pots feel truckish and unresponsive. So if it needs a larger engine the only answer would be a V6, which would add considerable weight.
As long as they keep the weight close to 3000 lbs. the TSX should do just fine with the K20A2. I'm looking forward to finding out.
TSX is slated to get RSX type S motor
It's slated to get the same 160-hp 2.4-liter engine as in the base Accord.
That's what it says in the new (Dec. 23) AutoWeek.
The article also says that, at the Detroit Auto Show next month, Honda/Acura will introduce the production TSX, along with a concept car made from the Element.

No, it isn't.
It's slated to get the same 160-hp 2.4-liter engine as in the base Accord.

i actually went to the acura dealership yesterday, and the slaesperson was talking about the rsx coming in a 4-door. As well as he is positive that the rsx-R is coming to the states in late 2004. I don't know if he really knew what he was talking about, but he was the finance/salesperson/everything at the dealership.

so the TSX will be slower than the new V6's?
Who cares about slower vs. faster?

Nope, Accord sedans are only available with PRNDLs.
I don't know if the TSX will be more fun than an Accord Coupe since I haven't driven either yet, but if I'm going to own a car that big it had better have four doors so that's a moot point as far as I'm concerned.
