Default swapping trannies

so, me and my friend are gonna swap his tranny on his single cam, question I have now is would it be easier to take out the engine/tranny, swap the tranny outside and put it back in, or just leave the engine in, and take the tranny out there and put in the other tranny, which would be easier?

Taking the engine out is much easier (for me it is)..

That way you can have your work right in front of you in your garage.

it takes more work to take out the engine/tranny, not very much more, but more time consuming. all you gotta really do is know how to put the tranny back on without a problem. i used to bench press the damn thing. i found it easier to slip the trans under the car, and lower the car as much as you can (i did it until it almost hit the floor), this way you will have no problem lining up the teeth on the tranny to the teeth on the clutch.

those are my 2 cents.
