h22 in 92 integra ?s
I finally found a 92 integra for sale and was thinkin about gettin it. Is it true that with a h22, you can't have both ps and ac? If that is true then that blows. Isn't the engine bay bigger than the civics and almost the size of the prelude?
i do not reconmend the h22 swap into a g2...unless you have bottomless pockets and aren't doing the work...g2's suck to swap every little thing turns ino a project. swap a b185 loongblock and a 92-93 tranny you will be much better off
by the way it looks you wont be able to use ps or ac. notice how big the h22 is and how much room you can spare under your hood. there's not much room with just the b18 in there much less the h22.
Search http://www.g2ic.com, some guy did it just to do it and it's very involved, the intake manifold must be shortened, etc. Translation: don't try it.
Alrighty, here's the thing. Firstly, when it comes to Hondas and going SERIOUSLY fast, you're going to have to make some sacrifices of conveniences, and parting with all that cabbage in your wallet.
Alright, H22A in a DA is a problem for a couple of reasons.
1.) Obviously, you're going to need the mount kit
2.) The timing belt will come about 1cm from the driver side strut tower, so much in such a small space is hard to work on, and the acessories won't fit, you're right. P/S on the H22A won't match to the Integra lines, and the solid A/C lines for the H22A compressor won't fit the Integra evaporator core, etc.
3.) The DA has a cable actuated clutch, the H22A is a hydro clutch. You're going to need to do the Hydrolic-Cable conversion, this is a pain, and $$$
4.)The DA is a linkage actuated shifter stock, the H22A is a cable shifter, you'll need to change the DA shifter out, and cut holes for the cable to run. Also $$$
You can put a GS-R motor in there and make more power w/ turbo and not have to worry about all these hastles.

Man, that sucks. I got some extra cash and was plannin on getting the integra, but now nevamind. I planned on gettin a 92-95 civic and in the future when I have the extra $$$ I was gonna try the h22 swap, but then I thought that maybe I should try the integra since it is bigger than the civic, I might be able to but ps and ac in it.
Hey Midori...so with a 92-95 civic or 96+, do they pose the same problem as the integra...( 2 thru 4 )? Would like more info before I pour cash out for somethin I regret later. And once again...you all know ur sh*t.

Word.
The H-series engines have an elaborate system of harmonic balancers. If you get their timing off at all (which is very easy to do), they run like ****.
Also, by going with an H-series mill, you take your Integra or Civic, with doulbe wishbone front suspension producing world-class handling, and turn it into a nose-heavy, ill-balanced oaf. For straight-up drag racing, it's great. If you want to turn a corner, the already front-weighter car becomes a plow.
Stick with a B-series, you'll be happier. If you're dying for displacement, do a B20/VTEC.

I agree, H22s don't rev as high, they burn oil more, and they are fricken heavy.. BUT my friend has one and his civic is F A S T with ungodly torque. He's also raced about 30 muscle cars and never lost
hehe.
hehe.
keep in mind the h22a is about a grand less than a gsr, but you gotta get the mounds and hydro-cable conversion, but it will be faster. i was under the impression h22a is only 70lbs more than a b series?
