Default Does anyone have experience with the Mugen program on a turbo honda?

Ok, first I searched, so if it has been brought up before I couldn't find anything on it.

I plan on boosting my b16. Nothing crazy, just a small turbo on mild amounts of boost. Basically your typical Greddy type kit. With that being said, how well will a chipp like the Mugen program or Skunk2 program work with it? I'm still new to the boost thing.

Thanks
Blake

Can you please explain to me why they are not recomended?

They run more fuel than a stock ECU, and the turbo kits such as Greddy don't even need larger injectors or a different ECU.

I understand that obviously dyno tuning with a Hondata unit would be best, but I can't afford that.

The timing map for the mugen or skunk2 program is too agressive for a turbo application.

Can you get away with it for a little bit? Sure, offcourse you can get away with it.

edit- if you dont have a bigger fuel pump, get one.

the fuel aspect of the programs isn't the concern.

the timing aspect is. unless you know how much timing is advanced and at what ranges of the program you could experience detonation.
run a stock ecu with the greddy blue box if you can't afford a standalone.

Thanks guys.

I currently have a fuel pump out of a first gen Turbo Eclipse in my car. I've been told thats good for almost 400hp. But I don't plan on making near that much power.

I got the chipped p28 when I was NA, and kept it when I decided to go boost.

The one thing that happened to me when I got my turbo installed (thanks DRAGLS! ) in my 96 LX (4 door) was that I was getting a CEL for the map sensor. My car was billowing black smoke when I got on the gas, and I would have to turn the car off and then back on for the CEL to clear, and to stop the car from smoking. I'm only assuming this is because the blue box doesn't work with the chipped ecu. I bought the missing link and everything is fine. DRAGLS adjusted the fuel with the AFC and the car idles like stock and there's no more black smoke. Only CEL I'm getting now is for the O2 sensor. But I was getting that even before my swap, so I'm thinking it's time to get a new one.

As far as timing goes, I believe mine's set at 32 degrees total?

Car pulls hard, running 8lbs daily, and no signs of detonation whatsoever.

My setup:

Stock GS-R motor
OBDII -> OBDI wiring harness
Type R tranny
Skunk2 IM
Cam gears (set to 0, 0)
18G Greddy Kit
Intercooler
Missing Link
Walbro 255 Intank pump
SARD fpr
V-AFC
AVC-R
(slipping) ACT HD pp with Street disk (soon to be 6 puck this weekend)
