Default Valve cover question, regarding Preludes...

Okay, I know an H22 is a prelude motor, but what years and cars was it put in? Also, is an H23 also a prelude engine? I'm going solely on the numbers and letters being so close, I heard somewhere it was a civic motor but it wasn't a very reliable source.

Would someone mind laying out the Prelude engines and years for me? Thanks.

H23s are pretty worthless unless you're FI though. I have yet to see a stout N/A setup out of one.
There's some sort of JDM H23 VTEC that came in Accords!...

cough...cough.......bullshit.......cough...you never saw mine then, h23a (gonna get flamed but who cares) in the long run is faster hehe.......it generates torque faster and when modded, mod for mod, they are faster cuz they create loads more torque, h22a's are more of a high rpm motor though, so it's a tossup on who's would be faster, personally, i'd rather have my h23, cuz when i raced my friend in his h22 mod for mod, i smoked his ***, and he's a good driver......but i just tore him up off the line, and the holeshot is very important......also on a side note, i have never been beaten by a h22 so i hold them a little lower in some regards

I have to agree with the canadian on this one, all motor h23a's are a waste of time. They do not have the capability of producing that much n/a power. Another thing that sucks is that they dont have as many products available as the h22's do, such as JUN 3 cams and other misc things. Sure you can swap your h23 out with an h22, but say bye to reliability. For forced induction though, the h23a is a GREAT motor, ive seen this motor put out over 650whp before. If you do the SAME naturally aspirated mods to the h22 and h23, the h22 is going to win. end of story. were not flaming you, were just stating the facts. as good as a driver your friend is, he sucks if you beat him. good job on the win

13.9 all motor h23 on slicks (one time pass never could back it up) consistant 14.2 on drag radials and that was before i built the bottom end.there is potential there if your dumb enough as me to try to build one.
oh yeah by the way SM polishing are you the same that sells polished intakes and other parts on ebay for miatas?

You're too stupid to learn, aren't you. I thought I already told you how it was in this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=349164

I guess you were busy wrenching on your shitbox 3rd gen to notice that it is a POS. Maybe back in your heyday, you know, when you were 20, the 3rd gen prelude was a cool car, but times have changed. Don't hate on 4th gens because they own you. Stock for stock, mod for mod, a 4th gen SI or VTEC will outperform the 3rd gen in every aspect.

str8rcn,
Yeah, I am... we just don't have any other polished parts in stock at the moment. All the hondas dont have time to get on ebay, they are sold and sent out as soon as we finish 'em.

13.9 all motor h23 on slicks
thats a very good time, im not doubting the h23a at all... i have the h23a, so last thing i want to do is dog the motor. but if it were me and i was going n/a, i would have to go for the h22a.

The H23 is a great motor, especially if you dont race alot. It has a much broader torque curve than the H22. It is a good motor to boost, it would be better to boost a H23 than swap a H22, both cost about the same. For a N/A setup, the H22 is better out of the box, responds better to mods, and has more aftermarket support than the H23.

H23/VTEC, best of both worlds.

haha so true, i'm in the process of doing that build, and in the spring i'll be running h23vtec na, on slicks, hopefully i'll be able to pull a 12 out of it, oh by the way it's goin into a crx.........on a side note...................what parts do you think would respond the best to the h23vtec build, like ex. the best header, best intake, best cam, best throttle body, pistons, crank, give me your imput, i'd like to make as much power as possible and put as much of it to the wheels

I definitely agree that the h22 has better aftermarket support.I caught hell trying to build my h23 but it turned out good. Now it has a fully built motor but i dont drag race much anymore i just enjoy driving it.
SM polishing. The reason i asked is because i also have a miata and possibly wanting some h23 parts polished but ill contact you through the right channels.
