Default heads-up: 215/50/15 = same rolling diameter as 195/55/15

what the topic said.

An old news, but looks like there are a few choices in 215/50/15 size. I'm gonna try this size next.

I always though some 215's hit the rear trailling arm.

doh! I guess it depends on the offset of the wheels, but maybe possible. bummer.

sean.....i don't think you are going to like the 195's very much.....i dropped .5 second off of 1/4 mile time going to the smaller width tire.....not enough traction there.....and i definately notice the smaller width on the street....not that i carve the local roads or anything....just saying...

Chad, I think he is saying he is going to try the 215s instead of the 195s...

Also, I would be surprised if people had problems with 215 clearance if the azenis fit? Ive heard they are as wide as some 225s.

they're about the same size (.1% diameter difference) , but why would you want to run somethin like that? wider wheels help, not tires, unless we talking slicks.

I want to run 7" width rims. I don't want skinny 195's on 7" width. I suppose 205/50/15 Azenis is more like 220/50/15, but I saw a few 215/50/15 sized tires, so I might give them a try.

well.. let me speak from experience.. when i placed s-03's (205-50-15) on 15x6.5 wheels, i could never capture the feel i could with stock wheels/tires while fast turns. By 30K miles the corner feel got even more soft.

After 30K miles, I placed s-03's on 15x7 wheel, and what a difference, i can definately feel the road a whole lot more, they feel better than when they were new. If to do this all over again, and have enough money, i'd get 15x7.5 or 15x8 wheels with these tires.

since 15x7.5 or 15x8 wheels get expensive, i might just purchase 195-55-15 next time i need tires

True, stock 195/55/15's feel great on 6" rims.

With Azenis on stock 6", it's definitely not crisp even at near max psi.

Maybe 215's will require 7.5"... I guess I'll find out if I ever choose to go that route.

I'm sure 195/50s feel the same if not better also. I have PZeros in 195/50 ready for spring.

What tire brand/models are available in 215/50 now?

I've had similar experience with the S03s... get a wider rim (7 in or greater) or keep it at 195/50/15 for the OEM 6.5in rim. Otherwise it starts to feel sloppy.

It's too bad there aren't many choices in this size or I'd be there.

OEM rim is 15x6, right? The S-03 195/50/15 felt much better than the 195/55/15 RE010!!!

Yeah, 195/50 feels more "precise", but I bent a $350 rim once running such short sidewall. (This of course would be on the streets, where you can't possibly avoid every single pothole.) Matter or fact, I was running 195/50/ZR15 Pirelli P-zero Assymetrico on my 15x7" wheels when I slightly bent the wheel on a pothole.

As for 215/50/15's, I was more or less looking for a "street" tire... Kumho 711's for $47 a piece.

My Dad has 711s on his '93 LS. Good for the price.
