Are the JDM 1997 type r taillights the same as the US gs-r taillights same year? I thought that they were the same?

 

nope.

as least, IIRC the JDM are not darkened around the lights.. or is that backwards.. never put much thought into taillights as long as the bulb works I see no reason to touch them

 

Oh, just curious b/c I noticed that someone on ebay was selling some JDM type R taillights out of a 97 [they still had the (orangish) amber corners]
He was getting a lot for them too. I was wondering if they were different or if he was just labeling them type r to get double the money.

 

i thought they were too hmm well maybe 94 gs-rs only since they were mostly jdm

The JDM ITR taillights look like the 94-97 USDM DC2 taillights except it doesnt have the reflector in the corner where that itty bitty bulb is.

94-97 JDM and USDM exact same except JDM doesn't have the reflector on outside.

98+ JDM is identical to USDM except the blinker is yellow/amber.

 

I guess its all been covered. just no pics.

wrong. one is darker around the lights than the other. That is a much bigger difference.

edit: nevermind, I'm wrong as shown by hybrid.

bah like you said, as long as they work who cares...

 

i don't know why people bother with the taillights....they all look the same...

My thought exactly, I always thought they are the same until now. And I actually like the 98-01 USDM taillights more than the JDM one.

 

i think the 98-01 all red and one clear spot look much cleaner. its all opinion though. just don't get them there altezzas and no smoked out tails or clear tails and your set for sure. haha
