D series engines and trannies
Actually only 88-91 Honda Civic/Crx HF/DX/SI/ZC Trannies can be physically bolted into your crx. The newer S20/P20 trannies from 5g civics will not work bolt in your car, and they are hydraulic operated, compared to cable type. The pre 88 trannies from older 1g rex's and Tegs will also not fit on your chasis, even though they are "D-series" they have differnt mount locations.
Now as far as motors go, its a differnt story.. Most all D-series engines will fit in your car. I.E D16a6/D15b2/b7/D16z6/y8 etc etc. The D16a1 from early integra will NOT bolt up correctly. Since the bell housing pattern is differnt and mount locations.

Hey thanks alot I almost bought a D16A1 for my car. I was going to get it today. Can you tell me what a ZC is. Is it a 90'to93' Teg LS and RS, right? Will that fit in my car?
The ZC is very similar to the D16A1. It is the motor that was used in the JDM Si. It was also used in the european market (D16A8/D16A9).
90-93 teg gs and RS and LS are all B18a, that won't bolt in your CRX.
88-91 D series tranny's are all that work. however they are not all the same, but a Si tranny for best gearing. You'll have to get new axles too. If it were me, I'd find a 90-91 Si tranny, they are better than the 88-89.

Actually you dont have to get new axles at all, As long as you keep using the HF axles you can use the DX/SI/HF trannies.. The ZC however, you will need to upgrade the hubs and use 90-93 teg axles (non-abs)
Remember guys, the input joint on 88-91 l3 series trannys is all the same, its the outter Hub on the HF's that gets people confused.
Their are lots of variants of the ZC, I belive 4 differnt makes,
SOHC ZC
DOHC ZC (1g Olive top)
DOHC ZC (2g Black top)
DOHC ZC (3g Black top) (OBD1)
Then ofcourse their are brothers and sisters of the ZC, the usdm D16a1 which is almost the same thing, but has differnt mount locations, and differnt bell housing config. The D16a9 and D16a8 are EDM motors, some come with Twin Carb setups, and I belive they have a slightly lower output.
As someone else said, the 90-93 Teg motor will not fit in your car, since its a B-series motor (B18a) You will need a mountkit and many other items to make this fit in your car.

d16a9 and d16a8 are edm but are mpfi, not twin carb. they are rated at 130bhp and differs from the a8 by lack of cat, so i assume the a8 is slightly different to compensate for the cat.
the twin carbs are d15XX 1.5x motors and are jdm only (unless they were available in continental europe, but definately not in the uk)
the zc/d16a9/d16a8 gearbox uses equal length driveshafts - which are meant to negate torque steer

Maybe it was a ZC that I saw... I know their is a ZC/D16 twin cam that did come with a Twin carb setup.. Yes I have seen the d15's with the carb setup as well..
