Got an alarm and now my sunroof doesnt work.....
As the title states I just had a Viper alarm installed and now all of a sudden I get the car back with the sunroof moaning and unwilling to rise. Is the motor for the sunroof done with? Thanks for the help.
I'm not sure about your case but I once had my power door locks turn on and lock everytime I hit the wiper blade switch. Stuipd alarm guy installed it wrong....also, along was going off every 10 mins while I was driving.....

so it is tryin to move but just isnt? or it isnt gettin any power? check the fuses, otherwise the motor just might have gone out
Well, just to input my experiences, recently my sunroof got stuck as well. What was happening is that the window was stuck in the passenger side rail. I could tell this by when I tried to open the sunroof, the driver side would start to pop up, but the passenger wouldn't move.
My brother gave the window a good push up when I was pushing the button, and pop, it popped it out(and out of the railing). He just put it back in the rail and it worked fine.
So I'd check to see if one of the sides isn't popping up first.

yup I checked fuses and it wasnt them. I ve tried pushing up when pushing the button but it just makes that sound that sounds like you pushed the close button when its already closed. The motor can be heard. It can even lift enough to vent just groans.
Take it to where you got it installed and tell them that your sunroof stopped working when you got the alarm installed. If they are reputable, they should double check their work and look at it for you.

Ok I brought the car to the place that my alarm was installed to have the guy look at it. He said he didnt touch the sunroof at all ( even though I made sure it was closed when I left it and when I picked it up the sunroof was vented). He stated that there is 2 springs in the inside that pull the glass back, and one of the springs must have disconnected. This sounds sort of weird for it to just to mysteriously disconnect itself?!? Anyways from the outside of the car it looks like the passenger side of the roof is not coming up and the other side seems to be rising. I ve tried pushing up while trying to open it, with no results.
Nick,
Those fools are screwing you, **** like that just doesnt happen to Mechanical **** in your sunroof without it being tampered with. Im sure they were dicking around with it and they just so happened to **** it up. I would barge in there and demand they fix your sunroof and give you a handjob. Its the american way!

since you hear the motor whirring I guess they didn't forget to reconnect the wire harness to the switch or anything... did you have them do a sunroof closure module or anything? I guess you've already tried taking it back to them...I was going to suggest you try pushing the glass up while pressing the switch but you said you tried that also... OK have you tried using the manual crank (its an "S" looking thing.. should be in your trunk/tool kit)... try to manual crank it.. and/or try pushing it up WHILE manual cranking it and see if it will open that way..
theres a little plug in your headliner that you have to remote.. then insert the "S" looking sunroof tool and manually try to crank it open... see if that works then see if your rails or something else is messed up or broken.. .

I was starting to take down my headliner, which by the way is a pain in the ****. Anyways I decided to try the manual crank first and whaalah!!!!!!! The damn moonroof works now.
I guess it just was sorta stuck in there REALLY good. Anyways thanks for the help GSRaCeRb01 and others.
