Kirkey mounting tips/help wanted
Currently I have a Corbeau Forza seat mounted on the adjustable rails from Corbeau. I would like to get a more substantial seat in aluminum or composite mainly due to the safety factor.
I would also like to lower the height of the seat to allow for a little more headroom (see BMW picture) and relief from the window cage bar that I bang my helmet on.
Can anyone let me know what would be required to mount this type of seat and what hardware/custom fabrication would be needed.
TIA
Greg

To mount the Sparco Touring, we removed the factory seat 'brackets'. When we were done, only the floor pan remained. We welded in rectangular tubing from the tranny tunnel to the sill. Some 16g plate material was welded to the areas where the tubing ended to spread the load. The sliders were then attached to the new mount. We then took Sparco side mount brackets & modified them to fit the slider. We were able to get the seat approx. 2" lower.
Greg, I am apparently using a Corbeau rail kit with some things bolted to the front that go under the "knee bolster part" of the Kirkey. I bought it second hand from Madhatter, who bought it from Catch 22.
Hard to tell since I had a POS cage and still don't have the new one in yet, but last year it was too high mounted to this thing. Didn't seem much different than the OE seat.
