Default T1 Racing Header & Exhaust....???

After long debate, I have decided to stay N/A.
Now I've done many searches and read many of your reviews on headers and exhausts, but there doesn't seem to be much info for the T1R package?
I know a good NA exhaust should be 2.5" for optimal performance gains and the T1R is exactly that.
As for the headers, they seem to be well made and quite reputable.
The plan is to go with JUN stage 2's of Toda spec B's in the future.
Can anyone lend some thoughts or opinions on the subject?
Is this a worth while H/E package to build from?

Thanks in advance.

I know T1R stuff is great, but my opinion is tainted...

Those particular pieces are pretty new. I'm not sure if anybody here even has that stuff yet.

It's difficult to have an opinion of something you've no experience with.

Well I've talked to the boyz at A&J and they have nothing but good stuff to say about them.
I'm going from an old Apex Dunk exhaust with stock headers to this new setup so I just wanted a little more feedback before I make the big push.

Anybody else?

i was looking at this set up as well. the only thing i know that may be of interest is the fact that the t1r b-pipe is not 2.5" all the way. there are bottlenecks at the flanges. if you want 2.5" all the way for your exhaust, then you will have to have the flanges modified.

That's true for the old T1R exhaust, but the new ones are full 2.5" with no bottlenecks.

So does anybody know (A&J) if the B-pipe they are selling is the full 2.5" or is the one with the bottlenecks in it?
The picture above is from their X-mas specials.

I believe A&J contracted a small shop in Japan to produce those products. That's why they have nothing but good reviews...

No doubt, they do make great stuff. I am happy with my exhaust, except for the fact that my tip is cracking and my silencer doesn't fit right(under WOT in vtec it will come out, b2 does have a similar problem). I gained 7whp and 5wtq with just the exhaust. Sound is awesome, but really loud w/o the silencer. It's deep and racey sounding in vtec. The OLD T1R b-pipe has 2.38" bottle necks and is not full 2.5". However, the newer version coming out will be full 2.5"

IMHO, if you have the money and you KNOW that you'll be buying internals, go with SMSP or HYTECH.

fyi...randdmotorsports.com also sells t1r stuff. they seem to have more stuff on their website that aj-racing which is weird since the t1r stuff is made specifically for aj-racing.

The problem with SMSP or HYTECH is the availability here in Canada.
I'd be all over getting one, but it would cost me a fortune and most likely take quite some time to get here too.
Am I right in saying that?

that setup seems very nice. although we don't have reviews, by the looks of things you'll be paying for some very good products and most likely be satified with that setup. i think u should go for it!

The T1R full catback is 2.5in with no bottle necks. The b-pipe they sell seperatly does have the bottle neck. The b-pipe is made with an "OEM" flange so you can use you're stock muffler and uses a doughnut gasket. This can be easly fixed by cutting the flanges off and welding new larger diameter flanges on.

Not really, it just the same as getting other parts from the US, which a lot of us have to do in Canada all the time. Give SMSP or Hytech a call and tell them your concerns, I am sure they can help you out on reducing the cost of the shipping bill. Remember, you don't have to pay duty for products made in USA. As for waiting time, it would be just as long as the ppl order from the US.

you guys in Alberta don't have to pay duty for products made in the USA?

FAWK, we're getting raped so hard in Ontario

Back on topic, apparently the specs from the T1R header are very similar to the Spoon headers (as AJR have very close relations with Spoon Japan).

I'm pretty sure we have to pay duty of some sort. I just received something from Texas via UPS and I had to pay "brokerage fees"....sucks ***!

The Type 1 seems to be a very good product. I don't know however if the B-pipe is the new one of the old one or if A&J sells the full cat-back? I don't want bottle necks that's forsure!
How do I go about getting in thouch with SMSP or Hytech?
Are the prices comparible?

As far as the canister goes, I can't help but notice that the Fujitsubo RM-01A design was integrated into Type One's new exhaust lineup.

The fact that Fujitsubo is huge in Japan, is seems likely that Type One would have Fujitsubo make their new exhausts? To compare, the similar situation with Skunk2 and RS*R.

Anybody know?

Highly unlikely.

Anyhow, if you are STILL interested in modifying your internals and don't want to wait for SMSP or HYTECH. I would suggest running the Toda header w/ an Amuse Titan exhaust.... hehehehe.

Don't know, but I can say that the Fujitsubo RM-01A is TOP NOTCH. Excellent so far. I don't know why this brand of exhaust has not caught on here. It is welded beautifully, weighs nothing, made excellent power over stock and has a very good sound. T1R does look similar, but isn't Type One Racing a Taiwanese company?? Either that, or their stuff is made in Taiwan, thus making it a TDM product.

T1R header did very well in the great header test... why do so few people have it?

This is why I am trying to get some more info on it. I totally agree!
I, like many of you plan on doing some internal changes and would like to see the most gains for my $$$.

Oh ya, T1R is a Japanese company. I don't think A&J would ever sell something made from Taiwan
