Tech question, 1998 Accord LX, how do i get the maint req'd light to go away?
It's my mom's car and we got honda to do it once for free...but i will not pay them for a 2 minute job.
I know someone knows this, if so please enlighten me,
I like the car...but only rotate tires and change oil o it,,, my other car is devoted to my racecar.
Thanx in advance.

for the maintanance light, put the key in ignition and turn it to where all the lights on the dash turn on, but don't turn on the car. then hold down the trip/reset button on the dash for like 10 seconds and let go. then turn the key all the way to off and the next time you turn it on the light will be off.
for the check engine light, you need a special computer tool that honda techs use and is more complicated.

If you forget the procedure in the future, it is burried in the owners manual somewhere

Razor, didn't work dude, i tried it 6 times.
I am just tired of looking at it.
Check engine light has never came on.. so i never jumped it to see if any codes were thrown.
Just want that stupid light to go away...lol.

I just re-read razors post. you have to hold the button down, THEN turn the key to the "on" position, and hold it in until the light goes out, about 10 seconds.
