It's from my ConquestTSi/Starion board I go to on occasion... just post your answers here, I'm linking him to this page. I did a quick search but I couldn't find a good way to explain about the plug/connector clip.

I know some of you own or have own honda civics. I have a simple question for you:
My friend owns a 93 civic dx hatchback (1.6L I guess ?). Anyway his check engine light came on. It comes on after the car is warmed up which leads me to believe it is a bad O2. However I'd like to check the codes to make sure. Anyone know how to check the codes on a 93 civic? I am assuming almost any year honda follows the same procedure as well.
Thanks,
kev

no one? I thought you civic guys liked to talk. Maybe it's just about your carbon fiber hoods and mad tite 19's y0.
I suppose I'll try the tech forum since no one in here knows anything about their own car.

how can you have 16k posts and not know yourself? I mena even if you are a lude guy you should know alot more than that. ITs pretty easy. Look under the dash on the passanger side underneath the glove box. There should be a grey plug plugged intoa piece of rubber...looks like it serves no purpose. Unplug it from that. Then get a piece of wire and stick one end in one side the other end in the other side from the one plug. It will cross the connection and cause the engine light to blink. If it is bad o2 sensor which it probalby willb e it will be a code 41. Four LONG flashes then one SHORT flash.
hope that helps

Here let me tell you. On the passenger side under the glove compartment look up. You will see the harnesses going to a green cap. Pull the green rubber cap off and you will see two plugs. One plug has three wires and the other one has only two wires. Now get a paper clip and make loop and stick them in to the one with the two wires. You are basicly just loopping them back to each other. Now turn the key to the on position and you will see the check engine light flashing. Count the flashes. One long flash stands for 10. Short quick flashes stand for 1. Lets say if flashes one long and three short then that would stand for code 13. I will have to look for a link on what the codes stand for.
