Do any of you people go as far as taking the cat off? I would like to, but not sure how to go about it. Leave it on? Punch it out? Hi-flow? No exhaust system what so ever? What have some of you done for a daily driver that you regulary autoX and use for track schools?.........by the way i live in columbus,OH and we do not have smog checks.........yet

daily driver = 94 Nissan Altima. 186k + miles. car is completely original, down to the original shocks, belts, hoses, clutch, etc. about a year ago, the muffler rotted out and fell off. went to Pep Boys and bought a selection of pipe and bends. welded up a pipe that runs straight out the back. total cost = $12.
that leaves it with the stock header going to the stock cat going to the stock resonator and then straight out the back. its quite livable, except in the 2900 to 3100 rpm range. there is a bad resonance there (about 85 to 90 mph). above or below that is OK, with a mild BZZZZZZZZZ.
My race car, a 95 Hatch with B18A LS motor in it is hella loud. KOS header to a 2.5" bullet muffler with turndown (under the car). its super super loud. like wear a helmet or you will go deaf loud. I don't recommend it at all for street driving.

JDM (y0!) 4-1 ITR header
SMSP 2.5" S/S catback exhaust, :fizzle:
passing emissions also requires retarding timing, instead of the 18 degrees BTDC it like to run at normally...

Stock manifold, higher flow cat than stock, over rear axle, then through a Supertrapp. Loud and buzzy, but bearable. Sounds like a chainsaw on 'roids, but then, it is a Wankel.
On my 2000 Si it's Comptech from Icebox to exhaust tip, with the stock cat. I got the quiet tip muffer insert, and it's about as loud as stock. Seen 153hp/111fp on the dyno with the insert pulled.

on the track i just take the rear section off and replace it with the spoon one.
but i'm too scared to have a loud car on the street after the chp mailed me a letter.

SCCA ITA, street legal 94 CHB.
DC 4-2-1 , cat, Greddy SP. I leave everything on even the muffler. Less thrashing around on race weekends.

Car: 91 Civic Hatch with B16.
Setup: Unknown 4-2-1 stainless header with JASMA badge (JDM
) Catco high flow cat, thermal 2.25 exhaust.
Won't buy another Catco cat, came with something stuck in it that came unstuck my first week rattled for months after that. Then the flanges on both ends broke off at different times. In the future I will go full custom.
BTW, anyone able to track JASMA numbers to tell me who makes my header?
