1.5 Sohc Vtec
my friend is looking to swap in a sohc vtec in his CR-X (89 HF) is this a good motor?
30015 - D15b SOHC VTEC Longblock
130Hp 92-95 Civic VTi (JDM)
what would be needed? that longblock, si tranny, p28 ecu and a conversion harness from blown 90 hatch? You'd need si spindles/axles as well correct?

yeah he wants to go with a si tranny. I was under the impression that blown90hatch's conversion harness made it plug and play. Is the jdm 1.5 vtec as good as the usdm 1.6 vtec?
i actually just talked to steve @ HMO about this motor. its a good swap. and very unassuming. i bet its got alot of top end power to it since its a 1.5and has the 130HP. haha u will whip up on plenty of people and watch the look on their face when u tell them its a 1.5 LOL
i have talked to a guy in canada with this motor and he says its bad ***... i would love to have it and be able to whooop up on people and say its only a 1.5lt motor..hehe
A few shops I talked to before I went Z6 told me the d15 vtec was a better motor to choose from, but I was like man, I will just get a Z6, got a good deal on it for 300 bucks so...
I love mine! But I stayed OBD0 with an Autometer rpm activator switch for vtec. If you go OBDI you'll need the corresponding dizzy. I'm going to get an Apexi VAFC hopefully next week to get the correct fuel maps. It's a great motor and pulls hard.

I persently own one, in a 1991 hatch, it pull hard as hell, with a DX tranny it is very much faster than a 1994 coupe SI. I run 0Bd1, you will need a header from 1992 to 1995 cause the lenght is different from the 1991.
Verry good motor, the only **** that appear compare to a z6, is that there is plenty of z6 laying around everywhere, d15b are very rare, you got to buy them from import shop and pay a motta. except that, you will be very surprised how it pull, anyway I was.
EM my if any problem

Cimorele, Did you get a whole Z6 engine for 300 bucks!?! or just the head? Damn that's cheap as hell if it's the whole engine.

yes it's supposed to do, since it's tha same head as a z6
z6 got sligtly more torque, but if you get a good flywheel and clutch, with a si trans, man, it's really faster then a z6.
a guy i know got this setup and, at the end of a 1/4 strip, he got like 1.5 car lenth on the other wich was a 1992 civic Si with the z6, with basic mod, I/e/H.
wwooooot, I forgot a little detail, don't run it with a p28 ecu, I run with it now but it show me a code 41 wich is heated 02 sensor but the d15 b got only one, like the d16a6. I believe you can find an exaust setup from 1992 to 1995 si and bolt it up to the bloc, then run the two o2 sensor to the ecu. Since i,m too lazy to do it, I just save money to buy me a p08 jdm ecu, chipped, from hyperducktunning.
hope this help

if someone is intrested pm me,

I will hopefully have mine by the end of this week. Saw 1 on ebay and the guy was located in miami and I am in tampa so I email him and asked if I could come pick it up. He said that was cool so I went 4 hours their just for the kid to say that they where out of them. Come to find out he dosent even work for the place he just sells them on ebay for 430 plus shipping and then go's and buys them for 350 and ships them. That was last saturday, so i paid the company 350 for mine and the kid was supposed to ship it out on monday when they came in and notting. So I called him and he said that he had been to busy , if my motor dont come in by this week i am gonna make a nother trip to miami, this time its not gonna be a nice trip. Sry for the rant on your post man but i am envious cause I want my damn motor
i got mine for 300, complete motor, a freind of mine bought his sohc vtec with tranny and axles for 100, from a guy we did an a2 swap for, we helped him so he hooked him up, there easy to find, i got a y8 in my garage, that supposedly has a spun rod bearing, but i havnt had any time to look yet.
