Default Headlights get brighter as I rev???

When I rev up my engine my headlights get noticably brighter. Can anyone tell me what the source of the problem is? I have a feeling that this is what has been causing my radar detector to malfunction recently.

Derek

Is your battery dying on you or anything like that?

if your battery has died unexpectedly like that, then i say the reason why your lights are dim and get brighter as you rev is because a diode went out in your alternator!! I'm sorry to say!!

if your car dies while its running then its time for a new alternator
and the grounds i upgraded where the once from the battery to the head cover, chasis, and tranny

ooooooo, another neat problem! When I'm listening to the stereo and I shut my car off and take the key out, the stereo will keep playing for a good 10 seconds before it shuts off. It's neat but I have a feeling it's very bad.

Do you shut your radar detector off when the car isnt running? A honda tech once told me its hard on the alternator to leave a radar detector on when it isnt running. As for the headlights being dimmer after youve revved on the motor, it seems to be a common thing, mine does that too, I have a radar detector as well.

You can test your battery and your alternator to see if there both working properly. Test the battery, it should read around 13 or 14, then when you start the car it should go up. You could upgrade your grounds. My car does the same thing, everything is fine though with mine.

From the sounds of it again I suggest getting your battery and alternator tested and or replaced. It seems to be a pretty common thing mine does that and I have went through all of mine when I got it. Had my alternator rebuilt, battery replaced and grounded the car better but still dims. I am not sure about this but I am thinking it might be my regulator in my alternator which regulates how much power is generated not sure though might be totally wrong on that.

The battery may be old and it may not be holding a charge like it is supposed to anymore. I still agree with replacing the ground straps anyway whether there is a problem or not. The best thing to do to see where the problem lies is go to a large chain auto parts store. Most of them have a machine that checks your charging system(Alternator and Battery) and they will check it for free. If it is the battery they will install the new one for free if you buy it from them. Hope this helps!

I have had my crx for 2 years and my alt. has not died and my headlights have been doing the same thing from the day I bought the car. I have put a swap in it and still have not had any problems. When I push on the gas a little my headlights, guage cluster, all lights in car get brighter. When car is at idle, all lights in and out are dim.

nothing to worry about.

Same thing in my EK with b18c5 swap. Pisses me off. I think the voltage regulator in my alternator must be going out. I dunno... Glad I'm not alone in this problem though.

I think I know why my radio stays on now. Last weekend I installed a capacitor in my fuse box for my radar detector that I have hard wired in. I think I have the power side of the detector in the radio fuse.... I think when I pull the key out, the radio just drains the capacitor and then shuts off. Its pretty neat. If this is what is happening I just might have to do a write up on how to do this lol.

i had that same problem..

check the tension on your belt... because the tension is too tight it over charges the alternator running everything brighter...

if you over rev you can overcharge the alternator and blow it

it happend to me.. got new alt.. installed and tensioned properly and it's fine now

my radio does random beeping after i turn the car off and take the key out... it's a sony thing
