i don't think those specs are right on the GSR motor. The compression is 10:6:1 and i think the torque is 127 but i could be wrong about the torque. But ya get the GSR. I have it and love it but if you can get a ITR. More bang for the buck
I'd go with the CTR motor instead of getting a GSR, because you'll end up buying a set of CTR cams to make more power, then figuring you'd need to upgrade the valvetrain to get the most out of the cams, then headwork, swapping out the 2 stage gsr manifold for a single stage...etc and start thinking, "CRAP, why didn't I just buy a Type-R motor to start with." If you want more torque, you could always put the CTR head on a B20 block.

even though i got a jdm b16a b/c of tite budget a b16b would be nice but cmon look at the price , a GSR motor should serv your friend fine ....
actually if you have noticed the price of a CTR has dropped by as much 600-700 since last year in price... let's pray it drops another 600 and I'll pick one up and part it out =P
the jdm 'gsr' sir-g, is 10.6:1, and 178 hp, and 127 ft.lbs...
go with the gsr.
if it were me, i'd get an ls motor, and boost it. for about the same price of the ctr motor. and have a much much faster car than either of those.

hey....that's my setup..with the obd1 gsr
but replaced the clutch and flywheel with act 6-puck clutch and the jun ultra-lightweight flywheel....took out a/c and power steering........go for the gsr

The B16B is a high revving monster! 9k stock! It also comes with a tight LSD tranny, and I right? Depends on the driving. If you do a lot of road racing, get the high revvin/ high flowing CTR engine.
