Default CD Player installation problems (not really car audio, didn't know where to go)

ok I went up to best buy to see why my CD Player didn't mount correctly where my radio was... he said there was supposed to be some sort of part that the cd player should bolt to - there are no installation kits for 88-91's

anyone have any pics or info on this? thanks

The space in the 88-91 civic is a single din spot, so you don't need a kit to fit, because it is the same size as most aftermarket cd players. Just make sure you get a single din cd player.

What you should have is the slot for the stock head unit which is standard DIN sized. There should be enough support in the bracket supplied with the deck to place it in the same location. Just use the sleeve with the crush tabs.

The only other option is if you want to make the deck more of a bitch to remove (for security purposes) you can custom fabricate brackets that use the rails which run vertically up both sides of the center console. Have them bolt to the steel rails, and then bolt to your deck.

You can buy that steel ribbon with all the holes in it at home depot or even walmart I think. That would work.

Oh, and Yes... the head unit you're buying is DIN sized. Pratically all of them are. Those that aren't are usually 2 or 2.5DIN (Like the GM AC-Delco stock units) and have huge screens on them. Not easily mistaken.
