Default JDM prelude Si motor vs. USDM prelude H23 motor....

i understand it's a 2.2 liter dohc non-VTEC motor that puts down same numbers as the H23. what is the engine code? F22? and will the long block fit just like the H23 in a 92 prelude SI? is the H23 ECU gonna work for this motor?
i'm assuming it should work with no problem since it comes in Si preludes in Japan, but i never really did any research on these.
i need to know for sure...

nah fool, you're interested in a JDM H22 motor that i can get you for $1000. then you go out and buy an ECU for it, swap it in and you have yourself a prelude VTEC.
you can either keep your Si tranny or get the H22 tranny.
now that's a deal! $1000 for the motor, another $300-350 for the ECU and $500-600 for H22 tranny. that's an H22 swap for under $2000.
let me know if you want it, i'll hook it up.

the JDM Si engine is the F22B, DOHC non-vtec 2.2L

it should drop in just fine, as easily as the H22A. the ECU should work fine.

personally id go with the H23A1 for that lil extra torque. but its your call.

it's for my g/f's car, her friend found it.... but i'm still looking for an H23. yeah, i was against it because of the torque difference.

i am currently doing an h23 to an h22a swap and i do not have anything i can do with the h23 engine. it has 119000 miles on it, but if you live anywhere near tampa florida, you can have it for parts, etc.

I might take you up on that offer. I need a few spare H23A parts.

DIBS!

thanks all, but i made her go for an H22... i got a great hook up on the motor so i figured it would be worth the extra $400 over the H23. i'm getting her everything except ECU and tranny. she will be using the stock H23 tranny and ECU until she gets some more money. i know she'll never see any benefit from this swap, but she will be able to sell it for more if nothing...

now here is another question for you H23>H22 swap gurus...
H23 automatic tranny should work fine with H22, right? and ECU will be ok, except redline will be lower and VTEC will not kick in, correct?

Pretty much. I wonder what the peak power and torque..on the non-vtec lobes is...

It may hurt driveability...

it should be fine... she doesn't drive fast anyway. and a month from now we'll get the ECU also.

Well...you will have to get a JDM Auto P13 ecu to do this. Actually the TCS code is a soft code 36 or something, and will show up when other codes turn up. It's no big deal. Just remember the car will be limited to 118km/h with the JDM speed governor..
