how does this compare to a JL sub ??????

 

also...I was reading that these subs dont need a ton of power to get good deep bass out of them....but what kind of enclosure would I need for one 12...sealed? ported?

 

Well the JL sub is the best IMO. well that's because im a JL fan

but seriously, i have heard both of them. The JL's get louder, and the Adire's sound cleaner. They are both slammin subs but the JL's are for spl and the Adire's are for sq. If you want to get the real sound out of them, you want to feed the subs the power. I think the Adire's handle like 1500 rms right? The Adire's also have the largest XMAX for any 12" sub out there right now.

 

Personally I like Adire. They are nice for the money and if you ask me can be amazing if you have the time. The Shiva is around 700 watts RMS. Personally I would not put more then about 400 watts into it. But that is just me. You can use a either a sealed or a ported box for the Shiva. I would do the sealed box design. Got a couple sealed Shiva boxes with custom specs from adire laying around my house already built. But message me if you really want one. But personally I don't like JL at all. I would go for the Adire. SPL is your enemy and SQ is your friend. But if it was me I would get the Shiva over a JL. But it is up to you. I have heard both and I prefer the Shiva by a large margin but like I said I do not like JL. But that is just me.

 

the shiva has better sq than a w3, with the same if not slightly more power handling. someone who prefers slightly more spl than sq might prefer jl. its up to you to decide. the only downside to the shiva is it only comes in dual 8ohm voice coils which gives you either 4 or 16ohms.
