APEXi N1 Catback Exhaust Review...
Well, I just installed my exhaust a few days ago and I'd just like to let anyone who cares what I think about the exhaust.
Before I got it I was anticipating it to be much louder even with the silencer off. It doesn't seem raspy or farty like I thought it would sound so I'm really pleased with the tone. It only gets loud when you're on the gas, and even then the tone is sweet. Cruising at normal speeds around town is okay if you keep the revs around 3K or so.
I think I'm going to run it without the silencer for a while because the noise doesn't bother me very much (well, at least from the inside of the car). With the silencer on the exhaust sounds almost like stock but just a little bit deeper and throatier.
The tip is a little larger than what I wanted but it looks very agressive and I'm pleased with its appearance.
As far as power, I can feel a great improvement. Accelerating on the freeway feels very good. I think my low end decreased a little bit but when having the revs at around 4000 on the freeway and then downshifting (or even in 5th) the power feels very immediate. The tone of the exhaust in 5th gear isn't that bad also.
My perks: Well, my exhaust rattles big time against the heatshields (maybe installation, or probably all exhausts) and it touches the back of the rear bumper (causing a little melting). I'm going to bend the heat shields out of the way and hopefully try to push the canister a little further back so it does not touch the bumper.
All in all, I love this exhaust system! At first I wanted to keep this exhaust only until I could afford the Hytech Catback, but now I'm having second thoughts, hehe. Okay, I'm done, hope you didn't get too bored, now here are the goodies!

Are you using 2.5" Carsound also? Looks good. Chucks own too.
hehe.
is that the turbo n1 catback? or the N/A? i thought the catback was not supposed to say apexi on the muffler...
Dennis: hehe, $20 for 2 runs blows but hell, it was fun hanging out with all of you guys!
It was really fun flossing our R's
Any reason why you didn't go with the N/A muffler? Did you buy it used?
Sigh, anyone have a picture of the N/A muffler?

You can't (Not in America anyway). Apex'i sells the full catback for the DC2 chassis with a can the size of the turbo canister. The only way you'll get a N/A canister is iff you buy the universal and run customer piping yourself (It'll look more like a hiper then). And the yes the catbacks for integra's come with a APex'i badge.

I didn't know I could get the N/A muffler for the R.

Exactly what Apex i ITR said.. You have the correct application for the catback for your DC2 R. I've had my APEXi N1 catback on my SI for almost 2 years now, and very happy with it. I said exactly the same thing when I first pulled it outta the box.. "Holy **** that can is huge"!! I think it looks good, very aggressive with the slight angle.. Good sound, very mean in VTEC (kinda like a sport bike) and good top end gains..
Skafia, did you notice any gains? Nice CW ITR..

I've had two years since i put on my N1.
The only draw back is that it back fires a lot.
I like it, but im thinking of something else.
Something light and 2.5" pipping with the same canister size is what Im thinking.
Any recommendations?
Also When I did a dyno run. I didnt gain anything with exhaust?
Anyone know why?
