Economics 101 my friend... Demand out-paces supply.

well, it really depends on what you're looking for. finding a 5th gen. for 8k or under is highly unlikely.

finding a 4th gen. vtec for 8k or under is very possible.

2-3 years is alot of time for a car to devalue, especialy when newer and improved cars constantly enter the market.

If you're good at barganing, then you can get a Prelude for a good price...My pops was able to knock off $4500 off when we bought my Prelude from the dealership

Nothing is ever considered overpriced. If someone out there is willing to pay that price then it is worth that much. If no one will pay that much for it...the price will fall and reach a new price where some is willing to pay that price for that good.
Econ lesson for you all. :D

It's all supply and demand. If the dealership knows how bad people want the cars then they will try and get away with whatever price they can. I saw a 95 Si on a lot for $12,000! It only had 65,000 miles on it, but still..... I ended up paying $7,100 for my 91 Si in '99 when I bought it. I probably paid about $600 over book then for a car that was in mint condition. I think your best hope is private sellers.

hondas really hold their value... why do you think you can get a 2 yr old vette for 1/2 the original price, but a 2 year old prelude for damn near new price?

I don't think Preludes are overpriced at all. You really get what you paid for. Prelude's quality is excellent. I have a 1997 Prelude Type SH and my sister just bought a 02 Civic EX coupe. My car have 120,000 miles and her car only have 10,000 miles. My car have a lot less rattles than her car, that just shows how good is the quality of a Prelude.
