Default How much slack should be left an ITR's P/S belt?

I just put mine back on and I think its causing my motor to die.

Could having it on too tight cause this problem?

If so, how much slack should I have on it?

about 1" at its widest point. Looser is better. Too tight=bearing damage and frictional losses. Too loose=slippage and noise.

Well it seems that if it is overtightened the motor will idle really low and almost stall when steering wheel is turned left and right quickly. If its too loose it sqeaks and p/s doesn't work very well BUT the motor is cool. I can't seem to find a medium
