I was going to sell my ex500 local but deal just went sour. I'm picking up my next bike in a couple weeks and would like to get rid of this one. It's in absolutely great condition, 3xxx miles, flushmounts up front and short stalks in the rear. Brand spanking new metzelers on the front and back (still got the whiskers on the side). 330/550 I believe. 110 front, 130 rear. Just full serviced this fall, never crashed. telefix front fork braces. Pro grip non slip grips. Awesome D&D carbon kevlar can w/ 2-1 tubular headers. K&N cotton mesh air filter. Just cleaned and oiled this fall. New clutch cable, gaskets, stock parts and spares come free w/ the bike. Get it now cheap for christmas and have a great bike for the 03 riding season. I will deliver local (md/dc/va) for a nominal fee or between washington d.c. and kingston north carolina if you act fast. I will let this go at the great price of $2,100. No bullshit, no nonsense. 1987, was in storage until 2000... also has the lower fairing so it looks like a regular middleweight sportbike to those unknowing

Is a bike from 1987 really worth 2100? Even if it has low miles and what not, its still a 500cc bike from 1987. Sorry I'm a bit of a motorcycle n00b, just being curious.

 

Well I'll give you a little background. ex500 and fzr400 are basically the two most desirable track bikes for those of us that actually have to work jobs during the week. The ex500 has not changed to this day, it got a new fairing and headlamp around 95. Also 17" wheels and a read disc brake. Everything else is the same. Same deal w/ the ex250. Btw, the ex500 is sold under the name Ninja 500r for over $5000 these days. My bike has some nice aftermarket pieces and most importantly brand new tires. Metzeler is pirelli's motorcycle line. $5000 retail brand new. The $3000 you're referring to I presume is the ex250. Btw, that doesn't include dealer assembly which we all know is steaming pile of... you. Sorry.

1987 ex500, which, correct me if i'm wrong, is what you are selling, sold for under 3000$ brand spanking new in 1987. 900$ depreciation over 15 years? I'm sorry man, I can get a an f2 or f3 thats much faster, albeit much higher mileage, for probably 4-900 more. It's nothing personal against you but the price seems very, very steep. Good luck selling it.

 

900 dollar depreciation... 3,000 miles, lower fairing, new tires(the battleaxes of the day were crap, some even came w/ chenking), telefix fork braces (very necessary as the forks give unnerving feedback a la r1), D&D full tubular piping w/ carbon kevlar skinned can(Loses over 20lbs and peak gain w/ stock jets was 6rwhp), k&n filter. The f2/3 is a very competant bike but in racing puts you in the middleweight 600cc class and w/ that bike would be very challenging at best to be competitive. For novice riders, a twin offers a much better power band than an i4 granted it has less peak horsepower all factors being equal. That same powerband makes it "nicer" to ride in town. Btw, and f2 is barely faster than this particular ex500 and as I'm sure you know; the rider counts for way more than the bike... this bike has a lower seat and a comfortable riding position comparable to the 600r. Not saying I don't like cbrs (I do, have an f4i) but its apples and oranges. For that 900 more you could pay for insurance (this is sub 500cc) and gear... insurance on the f2 or f3 would pretty much take up the entire difference not to mention you may need a tuneup, tires and any other miscellaneos maintenance. EDIT: Btw you don't want to try and find a d&d race piece for the ex500. The cheapest exhaust I've found was a $200 no name piece that was skinny style like the f2 factory

Now, I don't know tonydatyga, but if the bike is in the condition he says it is, this is a HELLA GOOD deal.

I just thought I'd put in a post to counteract the naysayers.

 

thanks mercy, I'd take that fzr if it were a 400 . Who wants it, picking up the 6r this weekend. I can't ride both so someone take the HELLA GOOD DEAL! If you want to cheap out I can stock the bike out and sell it cheaper for anybody who hasn't spoken out b/c they're a bit short. happy new year
