Default Any advice for a faulty antenna?

Antenna woes.

My antenna went up, but decided not to come back down.

Does the mast usually go first? Or is it a crapshoot until I tear it apart?

pretty easy to fix if you decide to pull the whole mast/motor unit out of the back of your car. only hard part is actually getting to the motor to get it out. i say, if you have to do the work to actually get to it to fix it...replace the little bastard with an S2000 antenna or an Insight antenna mast.

Why s2000 or Insight antenna?

I am currently in the same position with my stationary power antenna. POS

I personally think the S2000 antenna looks ugly. I'd just pick up a Metra antenna or something like it.

Try google.com and searching for metra antennas.

no way, s2000 all the way, haha. check out http://www.bseries.net they have a HOWTO on it, i think their site is down though. also, someone on the board sells an install kit for it, its like $16 shipped, and the antenna is like 15-20$ online so its really inexpensive.

I used to have issues with mine, too. One time it decided to try to keep going down after it was already down and the car was off. It went up and down all night and it wound up ruining my battery.

does anyone know where to get a cheap replacement mast for those of us who dont want to convert to the S2000 mast?

I know radio shack had the entire assembly for $20 when they were clearing them out but now they dont carry them unless your lucky and find a store with them in stock.

Have you guys with the stuck antennas tried cleaning and greasing them?

I constantly clean and spray with WD40 and it works fine.
