Default rota wheels to be offered in 15x7

Slipstreams for now, $115 or so. This month's GRM, page 164.

Theres also a nice blurb about NASA-VA on page 30, with Chris cobetto leg humping a trophy girl at hyperfest2

Yep, the Rota guys say the 7-inch wheels are on the way to appease the Spec Miata and ECHC guys.

Thanks. The next one is almost done, by the way. You guys may enjoy the cover story: Honda Odyssey vs. Porsche 356 and Jaguar XKE.

probably because they're easily expendible when compared to the SSR's

Basically.

I love the SSR's and after sitting for a year, they're finally on the car and ready to head out on track. In the future, I forsee myself needing multiple sets of wheels. Buying one set of $1200 wheels is one thing, but 2 or 3 sets gives pause.

In racing you need to view wheels as a fairly disposable item and budget accordingly.

hopefully in the right offset this time for FWD cars.

anyone else find it interesting that rota is all of a sudden coming out with 15x7 sizes, just when edgeracing announces flik TDR's in 15x7.....

Another PLUS in the Rota wheel catagory. Now there is no reason not to have a set of Rota rims in your garage.

Other than the fact they can't make an original design if their life depended on it.

At least they are starting to use their brain and are making a 7" wide wheel. Baby steps I guess.

I guess you decide whether you want an original design, or a $115 wheel.

Of course, the Team Dynamics wheels (which have been around long before Edge Racing put their name on them) are that price. I'm leaning more towards these wheels for various reasons including not liking the slipstream look. It will likely come down to weight though.

You talking about in the February issue? I was expecting it this weekend...but haven't gotten it yet. Probably sometime this week I guess then.

$115 wheels, in 15X7 sizes, and lightweight...ohhhh yeah!

Kosei was able to make an original lightweight wheel for close to that price, so I know it is possible. Rota just likes the fake bling I guess.

Too true. Spending $1200 on a set of four wheels very quickly becomes deciding what to do when you suddenly have three wheels that are effectively worthless without their disabled compadre.

I know I'm not supposed to be worried about such things, but the K1's are butt ugly. I know I'm in the minority with this, but this has prevented me from buying them.... oh, and the fact that availability has gotten flaky. Having a wheel that you can replace at a moment's notice is a big plus. Rota will likely have an edge over the TD wheel in this area.

although Rota prices seem to be creeping up. They started at 500 a set (for 17s) and are now 650.

btw....why was it such a big deal for you guys to get Rota to make 15x7 wheels? We have gotten several wheel sizes (16x7.5, 17x8) and even wheel designs (SDR, Tarmac) custom made, and are a much smaller market than the Hondas.

Did you catch that custom made part of your own post? Anyone can get something custom made, they're talking about finally having something just produced in that size on a regular basis, en masse.

Dude, you're not just in the minority, you're the one guy.

I've gotten compliments from people that HATE the modding scene and Honda's in general because of how clean the Kosei's look on my car. If the wheels can do that, it's obviously a problem with you, not the wheel. But hey, one guy that doesn't like them means the availability problem has just gotten 1 set of wheels better.

By custom made... he means getting a wheel made (but still mass-produced) to fit the scooby. Some of these wheels are only made in the off-the-wall subaru bolt pattern (5x100?)

LOL... judging by the number of Rota's sold vs the # of Kosei K1's, I somehow doubt that I'm alone. That's ok though... being different is one of the better things I could be accused of.
