Civic HF manifold on Bserie
Hi, first off all, I am trying to minimize the xpenses for my turbo setup. This said, I am planning on a T3 garrett .42 .48 turbo. So my question is, can it be possible to retrofit a 1990 Civic HF manifold on a B serie engine and weld a T3 flange to it? I can have that manifold for free, and would be a big saver for my budget. Pls no flames ....
thanks

You can go to town with a grinder and the outside ports have about 3/8" of steel to remove and the center two ports need material removed from each side. You will also have to slot most of the stud holes but that's not too bad. It can be done and if you are patient it can be done with great results.
Give it a shot.

great results? The ports are made for a 1.6L ecobox, not a turbocharged DOHC b-series motor. The ports will be restrictive.
Dsm injectors- 50 bucks
255 l/hr pump- 100 bucks
SMC- 100 bucks
junkyard turbo- 200-500 bucks
misc piping and down pipe- 300 bucks
DSM side mount intercooler- 60 bucks
DSM bov- 30 bucks
Misc guages- 200 bucks (important)
Retarding your timing- free
All this adds up to cheap fun. Don't get discouraged and think that your first turbo set up will cost too much to build. Odds are that your first set up will be a learning experience all the way around. Make mistakes and learn how to keep a boosted motor alive. Later on when you make the bucks to boost your next car you will have gained a valuable knowledge base of how to do it better than you had before.

I woudldn't bother with the Hf mani. I did everything, port match, grinded out the bolt holes to match up. made an adapter plate. everything. It was a waste of time. Hf sucks for b series. Nothing fits very good either. You need to run internal wastegate which is no fun to fit with this mani. I'd just save up and buy a used drag or something.
